by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(7/29/2013) Rangers outfield prospect Jairo Beras needs surgery for a broken hamate bone in his left hand, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He is expected to be ready for the instructional league season.

Beras, who began playing for the Arizona League Rangers (rookie) in early July, hit .250 with two doubles, two triples, two home runs, 11 runs and 15 RBI in 17 games.

Jairo Beras makes much-anticipated debut

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(7/3/2013) Rangers outfield prospect Jairo Beras finally made his pro debut Wednesday. The 6-5, 178-pound Dominican Republic outfielder went 1 for 3 with one triple, one walk, one RBI and one run for the Arizona League Rangers (rookie).

The 17-year-old Beras agreed to a $6.5 million deal with the Rangers last year, but his arrival was delayed as MLB held up the deal over questions about his age. Beras was suspended from game activity for a year because he allegedly lied about his birthdate, according to The Dallas Morning News.
