Clint Frazier tones down power expectations

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2/5/2014) Indians 2013 top draft pick Clint Frazier thought he might blast 30 home runs last year after hitting one in his first Arizona Rookie League at-bat, but was forced quickly to lower those expectations. He finished the year with just five in 44 games, though his .297 average and .506 slugging percentage made his professional debut a success.

"In high school, I could go out there and look like I'm having a bad day, but still look like I'm better than the other players, just because of the national ability and some of the God-given talent that I have," he told MLB.com. "But going out on the minor league field, not doing as good just looks awful. Everyone else seems to be able to do it as good or better."

Frazier is expected to open this season in Class A.

Indians 'developing a vision' for prospect Clint Frazier

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(1/29/2014) Indians outfield prospect Clint Frazier, who was the fifth overall pick in the 2013 MLB draft, might be a few years away from making his MLB debut. However, the Indians are already formulating a plan for his progression through the minors, according to MLB.com.

"He’s in a good position," vice president of player development Ross Atkins saod. "He will and we will evolve together with what ideal body weight will be and ideal profile will be as he matures. We’re mutually developing a vision for him. The work ethic that he has, we can adjust if need be. We’re not overly concerned with him being too big. We would never ask someone to work less. He’s extremely driven, hard working."
