Dodgers send down Ian Thomas to make room for Zach Lee

(7/25/2015) As expected, the Dodgers recalled Zach Lee from Triple-A to start Saturday's game. To make room for Lee on the roster, the team optioned pitcher Ian Thomas to Triple-A Oklahoma City. 

Thomas was 1-1 in three games, one start, for the Dodgers.

(7/24/2015) Dodgers pitcher Ian Thomas earned his first win of the season in his first career start. Thomas has made 23 relief appearances over the last two years. 

Thomas allowed a run on three hits over five innings and evened his record at 1-1. He didn't walk a batter and struck out five.

(7/23/2015) The Dodgers announced that left-hander Ian Thomas will be the starting pitcher for Friday's game against the Mets. Thomas will be starting in place of Zack Greinke, who has traveled back to Los Angeles to be with his wife, who is about to give birth.

Thomas was recalled from Triple-A on Wednesday. This will be the first start of his career. He has made seven relief appearances, two of them since coming over in a trade from the Braves in late May. Overall this season, Thomas owns a 5.23 ERA over 10 1/3 innings.

He will become the 13th different starting pitcher for the Dodgers, who will play their 97th game of the season on Friday.

(7/22/2015) The Dodgers swapped out pitchers Wednesday, recalling lefty Ian Thomas from Triple-A Oklahoma City and sending down left-hander Adam Liberatore, per the Los Angeles Times

Thomas was 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA in two appearances with the team earlier in the season, but was 4-1 in five starts and eight games at Triple-A. 

Liberatore was 2-2 with a 4.35 ERA in 25 games for the Dodgers this season.

(7/8/2015) The Dodgers sent pitchers Ian Thomas and Yimi Garcia down to Triple-A on Wednesday, the team announced.

Thomas was 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA over 10 1/3 innings, while Garcia was 3-2 with a 4.10 ERA over 37 1/3 innings.

Moreover, the team designated pitcher Eric Surkamp for assignment. Surkamp produced a 10.80 ERA over 3 1/3 innings.

(7/7/2015) The Dodgers recalled pitcher Ian Thomas from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, manager Don Mattingly said, per SB Nation.

Thomas was 3-1 with a 7.09 ERA in six games--five starts--at Oklahoma City. He suffered a loss in his only appearance with the Dodgers this year. 

To make room, Los Angeles optioned pitcher Eric Surkamp to Triple-A. Surkamp gave up four runs on four hits in his only appearance with the Dodgers.

(6/26/2015) The Dodgers reinstated reliever Pedro Baez (right pectoral strain) from the 15-day disabled list on Friday. To clear a roster spot, reliever Ian Thomas was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Baez tossed three scoreless innings on a rehab assignment with Oklahoma City. He allowed two hits and had two strikeouts.

Thomas was acquired in a trade with the Braves and subsequently optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Though he's being called up, it remains to be seen if he'll get a look at a spot start.

The longest Thomas has gone this season is three innings. 

The Dodgers have yet to name a starter for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

(5/27/2015) The Dodgers have officially acquired third baseman Alberto Callaspo, pitcher Ian Thomas, pitcher Juan Jaime and pitcher Eric Stults from the Braves, the team announced on Wednesday.

Callaspo, who originally rejected the deal, will be placed on the active roster. Thomas will be optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City while Jaime will go to extended spring training. Stults has been designated for assignment.

In a corresponding move, the Braves optioned third baseman Adonis Garcia down to Triple-A. Garcia made just two big-league appearances and had only one at-bat.

Ciriaco has played 188 MLB games with four different teams over the last five years. He was hitting .234 with a home run and seven RBI with Gwinnett.

To make room, the Braves optioned LHP Ian Thomas to Gwinnett. Thomas had a 2.70 ERA in four appearances for the Braves this year.

He takes the roster spot of Andrew McKirahan, who was suspended 80 games after testing positive for lpamorelin. Thomas was optioned to Triple-A early in March and has thrown 3 1/3 scoreless innings for the Braves with three strikeouts and zero walks. 

Thomas posted a 1-2 record in 2014 with a 4.22 ERA in 16 appearances.

Thomas surrendered one earned run in two innings this spring while striking out two and walking three. Reyes went 1 for 5 in three appearances, striking out once.

The Braves also re-assigned four players to minor-league camp, including pitcher Matt Capps, infielder Johan Camargo and catchers Yenier Bello and Tanner Murphy.

(5/31/2014) The Braves made several minor moves Saturday with three right-handers. They designated for assignment Wirfin Obispo, purchased the contract of Shae Simmons and optioned Ian Thomas back to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Simmons has been tearing it up at Double-A Mississippi. He has yielded just two earned runs on 15 hits in 23 innings with just six walks and 30 strikeouts.

Thomas (1-2) permitted a sacrifice fly to David Ortiz and a run-scoring single to A.J. Pierzynski in the seventh inning. He yielded two runs on two hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning. He owns a 4.66 ERA, a 1.66 WHIP and 12:6 K:BB ratio in 9 2/3 innings pitched.

(5/7/2014) Recently demoted Braves reliever Ian Thomas debuted a new pitch in his return to Triple-A Gwinnett Tuesday, as he tossed a handful of sliders in three innings of work.

"He threw four or five sliders to both sides, and they were really, really good," manager Fredi Gonzalez told MLB.com. "It had some depth."

Thomas was sent down in order to get some work in, and is attempting to add a slider to his arsenal for the first time since college. He put up a 4.26 ERA in 10 appearances out of the Braves' bullpen, and could be in line for a call up if the team requires another left-handed reliever down the road.

(3/30/2014) Braves pitchers Ian Thomas and Gus Schlosser, and infielder Brandon Hicks have made the opening day roster.

All three players performed well during spring camp, earning their spots on the 25-man roster. Thomas put up a 2.61 ERA in 10 1/3 innings. Schlosser had a 2.03 ERA in 13 1/3 innings. Hicks hit .348 with three home runs during spring.
