Rays infielder Ryan Brett begins Class A rehab assignment Sunday

(1:37 am ET) Rays infielder Ryan Brett went 2 for 3 in his first Class A rehab game for Charlotte on Sunday. Brett had a double and two runs scored before getting taken out of the game.

Brett, who is currently on the 15-day DL with a shoulder injury, has played in just three games for Tampa Bay this season and has been out of action since April 22.

(5/22/2015) Rays second baseman Ryan Brett will begin a minor league injury rehab assignment on Sunday, per TBO.com.

Brett is recovering from a shoulder injury that landed him on the 15-day disabled list on April 22. He will report to Class A Port Charlotte to begin the assignment.

(5/12/2015) Rays second baseman Ryan Brett is making progress in his return from a partially dislocated left shoulder. 

Brett is on the 15-day disabled list. He's begun fielding and throwing. He's also hitting off of soft toss and swinging off a tee, as he builds up strength in the shoulder. 

Brett told MLB.com that he's close to resuming full baseball activities, and after that, he'll start appearing in extended spring games. 


Rays' Beliveau headed for surgery; Brett to DL, Elmore recalled

(4/22/2015) The Rays announced a few roster moves Tuesday, including reliever Jeff Beliveau being moved to the 60-day disabled list. It was announced he will have surgery Thursday to repair a torn left labrum.

Beliveau will be out for the rest of the season. The Rays hope he will be ready by spring training.

The Rays also placed Ryan Brett on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder subluxation. Infielder Jake Elmore was recalled from Triple-A Durham to take his roster spot.

"[Elmore] provides a ton of versatility," Cash said, per MLB.com. "He's played well down there. He's been having really good at-bats. It was nice to see him during Spring Training. He was the guy that we carried on every single trip simply because if he wasn't starting, he covered us at any position -- and that's a luxury to have in the dugout."

(4/21/2015) Rays second baseman Ryan Brett is likely headed for the disabled list after dislocating his shoulder during Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox, reports the Tampa Bay Times.

Brett injured his shoulder (officially diagnosed as a subluxation) while in the process of getting picked off as a runner at first base.

If Brett is added to the DL, the subsequent roster move is unknown as of Tuesday night.

(4/21/2015) Rays second baseman Ryan Brett left Tuesday's game against the Red Sox with a partially dislocated left shoulder injury, according to the Tampa Tribune.

The injury, officially diagnosed as a subluxation, occurred while Brett was in the process of getting picked off as a runner at first base. 

Allan Dykstra has replaced Brett, going into play first base while Logan Forsythe moves from first base to second.


Rays place RP Jeff Beliveau on DL among roster moves Friday

(4/17/2015) Rays reliever Jeff Beliveau was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday due to left shoulder soreness, the team announced. He has a 13.50 ERA in five relief appearances.

The Rays also optioned outfielder Mikie Mahtook to Triple-A Durham, while also recalling infielder Ryan Brett and reliever C.J. Riefenhauser .


Rays option Hak-Ju Lee, send down seven others

(3/15/2015) The Rays cut eight players on Sunday. 

Shortstop Hak-Ju Lee was optioned to Triple-A Durham, along with RHP Jose Dominguez.

Lee hit .222 in spring games. Dominguez struck out three of the six batters he faced in two perfect innings.  

The Rays also optioned three players to Double-A: C Justin O'Conner (.250 spring average), LHP Grayson Garvin (three strikeouts in four scoreless innings) and INF Ryan Brett (0-for-5) to Double-A Montgomery and reassigned RHP Dylan Floro (6.75 ERA), C Luke Maile (.250 average) and LHPRobert Zarate (6.00 ERA) to minor league camp.


Rays finalize 40-man roster

(11/21/2014) The Rays have finalized the 40-man roster on Thursday.

The team designated Cole Figueroa, Michael Kohn and Jose Molina for assignment, freeing up space on the roster. The team then added Matt AndrieseRyan Brett , Grayson Garvin, Mikie Mahtook  and Justin O’Conner to the 40-man roster.
