Walrond, Happ not trustworthy
(8/7/2008) The Phillies have relied on Chad Durbin as their primary right-hander in the seventh or eighth inning. Durbin, primarily a starter before this season, appeared in five of the Phillies' six games last week in Washington and St. Louis. Manager Charlie Manuel said he is leery of overusing Durbin, lefty J.C. Romero and even closer Brad Lidge. And with veteran Rudy Seanez (right shoulder inflammation) on the disabled list until Aug. 16, the underbelly of the Phillies' bullpen (recently recalled lefties J.A. Happ and Les Walrond) was exposed for five runs in the final three innings Tuesday night. "I'm concerned about getting to the back end of our bullpen," Manuel said. "Romero has been up a lot, and it's Durbin's first time being in the bullpen and having this big a workload. If we can get to the back end of our bullpen, I feel like we could be good. But getting there, that's where it's important that our starters give us six innings."
