(3/11/2011) Rockies manager Jim Tracy said on Friday that C Chad Moeller has been given his unconditional release. "We decided to let Chad move on," Tracy said. "We did not feel like he was going to be a fit. We wanted to do this now so he can look for another opportunity."

(5/19/2010) Multiple media outlets are reporting the Yankees received MRI results on catcher Jorge Posada on Wednesday. The results were not good. Posada is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a hairline fracture on the bottom of his right foot. Francisco Cervelli has been starting in Posada's absence. The Yankees have veteran Chad Moeller and top prospect Jesus Montero on the roster at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

(3/18/2009) From the The Sports Xchange: Matt Wieters will settle the Orioles' backup catcher situation whenever he is recalled from the minors later this spring. In the meantime, three catchers are vying for time as the backup to the backup. Guillermo Quiroz, Chad Moeller and Robbie Hammock are in camp, hoping to join Gregg Zaun with the Orioles when the club heads north next month. None of those three options is on the 40-man roster -- unlike Wieters and Zaun -- meaning another player will have to be exposed to waivers to fit a backup catcher onto the big-league roster.
