(4/10/2013) The Braves have acquired reliever Luis Ayala from the Orioles in exchange for minor-league pitcher Chris Jones, the club announced Wednesday.

Ayala has enjoyed a resurgence over the past two seasons. After spending 2010 in the minors, he threw 56 innings with a 2.09 ERA for the Yankees in 2011 and tossed 75 innings with a 2.64 ERA for Baltimore. He showed excellent control in 2012, as he walked just 1.7 batters per nine innings, the key to his success.

According to manager Buck Showalter, it’s unlikely Ayala travels with the team to Boston, where Baltimore opens a three-game series  Monday.
