Yost: Ben Zobrist to soon start at 2B over Omar Infante for Royals

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/28/2015) It appears all but certain that light-hitting Omar Infante will be the odd man out of the Royals lineup when Alex Gordon returns from injury.

As expected, Ned Yost has stated that Ben Zobrist will play mostly second base when Gordon is ready, per the Kansas City Star.

Infante has not found his stride at the plate all season. The result is a .217 average, which if maintained would be the lowest of his career.

The versatile Zobrist, who can play all over the field, will likely continue to give others occasional days off as the Royals cruise to the division title.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/20/2015) Ned Yost has declared that the ailing back of Royals second baseman Omar Infante is improved and that he's ready for action, but he remains out of the lineup Thursday in Boston.

The addition of hot-hitting Ben Zobrist makes pushing Infante back unnecessary. In fact, the light-hitting Infante could find himself benched permanently in favor of Zobrist once Alex Gordon returns from injury.

Infante owns a weak .216/.232/.298 slash line on the year.
