Cliff Lee's activation off DL among Phillies roster moves

(7/21/2014) The Phillies made a slew of roster moves before Monday's game against the Giants, which included activating starting pitcher Cliff Lee (elbow) off the 60-day disabled list.

The Phillies also activated infielder Reid Brignac (ankle) and catcher Wil Nieves (quadriceps) from the 15-day disabled list.

Outfielder Tony Gwynn Jr. was designated for assignment, while infielder Cesar Hernandez was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Catcher Koyie Hill was outrighted off the roster.

(6/27/2014) The Phillies purchased the contract of catcher Koyie Hill from Triple-A Lehigh Valley Friday, to take the place of Carlos Ruiz, who was placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Zach Collier was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for the Phillies.

(3/25/2014) The Phillies announced Tuesday they optioned catcher Cameron Rupp to Triple-A Lehigh Valley and reassigned catcher Sebastian Valle to minor-league camp. Koyie Hill was also added to the spring roster as a non-roster invitee.

(3/17/2014) The Nationals made a some roster moves Monday. They optioned outfielder Eury Perez and outfielder Steven Souza to Triple-A Syracuse, while optioning pitcher Sammy Solis to Double-A Harrisburg.

Also, the Nationals reassigned infielder Mike Fontenot, outfielder Brian Goodwin and catcher Koyie Hill to minor-league camp.

Hill will be a free agent heading into the offseason and will hope to catch on with a new team for spring training.

The backstop hit .155 over 58 at-bats with the Fish in 2013.

Each of the players played some portion of the 2013 season with the Marlins, except for Ceda, who continued to recover from Tommy John surgery.

(3/27/2013) Marlins manager Mike Redmond said Wednesday newly signed catcher Koyie Hill might have a chance to make the roster as the backup catcher to Rob Brantly, according to The Palm Beach Post.

"It's a perfect fit for what we need," Redmond said.
