Royals release Willy Taveras

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(7/25/2013) The Royals have released outfielder Willy Taveras Thursday, according to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman.

Taveras did not appear in the majors with the club, and last appeared in a major-league game in 2010.

Taveras no longer a long shot?

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/23/2011) With the Rockies inclined to keep four outfielders as a way to have Jason Giambi as an option off the bench, the chances of OF Wily Taveras making the opening-day roster seem slim despite playing well this spring. Although, the Rockies don't need a fifth starter until April 10, so Taveras could be an extra bat off the bench in the early weeks of the season. “I have welcomed any challenge and tried to do anything the Rockies have asked me. It’s been a great the way they have treated me,” Taveras told The Denver Post.
