Gomez has a left rotator cuff strain in his shoulder and is on the DL retroactive to May 6. The Brewers recalled OF Adam Stern to take his roster place.

"He's been with us all year," Perlozzo said of Bynum. "Adam is just getting off rehab."

(4/16/2007) The Orioles' Corey Patterson was placed on the bereavement list Monday. He left the club on Sunday to be with his family after the death of his grandfather. He is expected to miss the three-game series at Tampa Bay. The Orioles then called up reserve outfielders Adam Stern and Jon Knott.

(3/28/2007) The Baltimore Sun reports that Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo expects to be without OF Jay Payton (left hamstring) for as many as three weeks. As a result, the O's have some roster juggling to do. Adam Stern and Freddie Bynum appear to be likely replacement options, though Stern is sick and is unable to play. He's only seen 15 at-bats this spring.

(8/4/2006) The Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox acquired Javy Lopez from Baltimore in exchange for a player to be named on Thursday. This pickup was a reaction to Jason Varitek's knee injury that could keep him out until early September. "(Lopez is) not what he used to be, but for what the Red Sox need him for -- a month or so -- he was the best guy out there for them," said one Orioles official. "He can still hit. Doubt he can catch every day and he'll need some help from the pitchers." Reports indicate that the player to be named could come from this group: Adam Stern, Alejandra Machado, or, less likely, Abe Alvarez.
