Angels request release waivers on Brad Hawpe

(8/4/2013) The Angels requested release waivers on first baseman Brad Hawpe Sunday, according to MLB.com. Hawpe was designated for assignment earlier in the week. He hit .185 over 27 at-bats during his time with the Angels.

(7/29/2013) The Angels designated first baseman Brad Hawpe for assignment Monday. The move clears a roster spot for the promotion of Daniel Stange. 

Hawpe hit just .185 over 27 at-bats with two runs driven in during his short time with the Angels. The 34-year-old had not played in the majors since 2011 before seeing time with the Halos this year.

Hawpe hit a single and walked twice to finish 1 for 2. Hawpe also drove in a run and is hitting .308 in 13 at-bats.

(6/8/2013) The Angels officially added Brad Hawpe to the roster for a doubleheader Saturday in Boston. Hawpe comes up from Triple-A Salt Lake. 

Hawpe is a former All-Star who has not appeared in the majors since 2011. The 34-year-old is hitting .305 with a .909 OPS in the minors this year.

(6/7/2013) The Angels are expected to add outfielder Brad Hawpe to the active roster in time for Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, according to the Los Angeles Times. Hawpe is not yet on the 40-man roster, so that will have to come first.
