(1/6/2009) The Rays agreed to terms with six players Tuesday, signing catcher Michel Hernandez, outfielder Jon Weber, left-hander Randy Choate, right-hander Julio DePaula, infielder Ray Olmedo and outfielder Ray Sadler to minor league contracts with invitations to major league spring training.

(8/22/2007) The Minnesota Twins recalled right-handed reliever Julio DePaula from Triple-A Rochester and optioned reserve infielder Luis Rodriguez to Rochester after Tuesday's game against the Mariners.

DePaula sent to minors


(5/30/2007) The Twins recalled right-hander Kevin Slowey from Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday in advance of his major league debut. The 23-year-old Slowey will start Friday night at Oakland, taking Ramon Ortiz's place in the rotation. Ortiz was sent to the bullpen after a series of bad starts this month. To make room for Slowey on the 25-man roster, the Twins optioned righty reliever Julio DePaula to Rochester. To make room for Slowey on the 40-man roster, the Twins transferred right-handed reliever Jesse Crain to the 60-day disabled list. Crain is out for the season while he recovers from shoulder surgery.

(5/30/2007) The Twins optioned RHP Julio DePaula to Triple-A Rochester and transferred RHP Jesse Crain to the 60-day DL. The moves were made to clear the way for the arrival of top prospect Kevin Slowey for his big league debut Friday.

(5/22/2007) Reliever Julio DePaula gave up seven runs and six hits in one inning. "We didn't pitch," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "If you don't pitch, you're not going to win. Silva left too many pitches up in the zone and DePaula had a hard time."

(5/16/2007) Julio DePaula, recalled earlier from Triple-A Rochester to replace the injured Jesse Crain, made his major league debut on Wednesday at Cleveland. He worked a scoreless inning, allowing one run while striking out a batter in a 12-pitch performance.
