Wellemeyer calls it a career


(5/7/2011) MLB.com reports that SP Todd Wellemeyer announced his retirement on Saturday. The right-hander had been pitching for Triple-A Iowa in the Cubs' farm system, where he appeared in just one game. Wellemeyer pitched eight years in the majors, going 32-34 with a 4.83 ERA in 208 appearances, including 75 starts.
