(10/16/2008) The Cardinals claimed left-handed reliever Charlie Manning off waivers from Washington on Wednesday. The 29-year-old Manning was added to the Cardinals' 40-man major league roster. To make room, the team designated first baseman Josh Phelps for assignment.

(9/10/2008) The back-to-back homers Tuesday, the sixth time for the Mets this season, came off Charlie Manning (1-3). "Two really bad pitches there. A fastball to (Carlos) Beltran up. Then a slider to (Carlos) Delgado I kind of hung, and right now he's locked in," Manning said. "I went out there to try to be aggressive, but I let my team down."
Manning gets back on track
(7/8/2008) According to The Sports Xchange notes: LHP Charlie Manning bounced back after a rough stretch to record some key outs over the weekend. Manning, a 28-year-old rookie reliever, was roughed up in consecutive appearances Tuesday and Wednesday in Florida, but he rebounded in Cincinnati to retire OF Ken Griffey Jr. three consecutive times and OF Adam Dunn once.
