(4/27/2010) From The Sports Xchange notes: Julio Lugo got a scare over the weekend when news reached him that his brother, Ruddy, a pitcher with Triple-A Toledo was struck in the right temple with a line drive. Ruddy Lugo spent the night in the hospital and ended up with a "big bump" on his head, Julio Lugo said. The Orioles' utility infielder, who entered as a defensive replacement in the bottom of the eighth Sunday, said he didn't sleep Saturday because of concern for his brother.

(8/5/2008) The New York Daily News reports that an MRI on injured Mets closer Billy Wagner revealed a strained forearm. Wagner is expected to be placed on the 15-day DL before Tuesday's game in San Diego, and Ruddy Lugo should be activated in time to replace Wagner in the bullpen.

RHP Brian Stokes started for Triple-A New Orleans on Monday and would be on regular rest, and RHP Ruddy Lugo could be pushed back a day after pitching for the Zephyrs on Sunday. New York also could look to a lower level of the minors.

The A's recalled right-hander Ruddy Lugo from Triple-A Sacramento to replace Kennedy on the 25-man roster. Lugo was 3-0 with a 0.45 ERA and a team leading 10 saves in 17 relief appearances with Sacramento. He did not allow a run in 16 of those outings and held opponents to a .081 batting average.

Lugo walked two batters and allowed an RBI single and a two-run double Wednesday, which killed Seth McClung's solid start. Lugo also failed to record an out against four batters Tuesday. "We're still trying to define the bullpen and get guys in specific roles, and it's still difficult to really get that done," Maddon said. "There's too much vacillation."
