Lopez makes spring debut

(3/9/2013) Giants reliever Javier Lopez made his Cactus League debut on Saturday against the Royals. After dealing with a hand injury, he allowed one run on three hits over an inning of work. Lopez also struck out two with no walks. "I definitely felt like it was my first time out there in a while, but it's nice to get that one out of the way," Lopez told MLB.com. "It's on to bigger and better things now."

Lopez to miss a week

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(2/20/2013) San Francisco left-hander Javier Lopez will miss up to a week after a warmup pitch hit him on the top of his left hand during practice Tuesday. Lopez, who was catching for fellow left-hander Madison Bumgarner at the time, showed off the injury Wednesday, two days after the injury. The seams of the baseball were clearly visible on his hand. Giants manager Bruce Bochy was not too concerned about it and did not think it will put Lopez behind schedule.

Lopez checks out fine

(2/19/2013) Giants reliever Javier Lopez checked out fine after receiving a bit of a scare Tuesday. Lopez had to cut his day short after a baseball hit his left hand and then deflected up into his face. Lopez did have X-rays on his left hand, but they came back negative. He has a bruise and is considered day to day.

Lopez focusing on Giants

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(2/12/2013) San Francisco reliever Javier Lopez may pull out of the World Baseball Classic if he doesn't feel up to speed with the Giants, reports the San Francisco Chronicle Tuesday. "This is the priority for me, the Giants," Lopez said. "I'm not going to rush into the WBC if I don't feel I'm ready." Lopez could pitch for Team Puerto Rico.
