Cubs sign Eli Whiteside to minor-league deal

(11/16/2013) The Cubs have signed catcher Eli Whiteside to a minor-league deal, MLBDailyDish.com reports. Whiteside hit .187/.242/.280 with five home runs and 25 RBI in 225 at-bats with Triple-A Round Rock last season.

Whiteside is a career .215/.273/.335 hitter with 10 home runs and 43 RBI in 489 at-bats over five major-league seasons.
