(7/28/2014) Triple-A first baseman Brad Nelson has been released by the Twins. The 31 year old Nelson has not earned a major league at-bat since 2009.

(2/16/2014) The Twins have signed outfielder Brad Nelson to a minor-league deal.

The 31-year-old spent last season with the Cubs Triple-A club. He hit .271/.346/.467 in 428 at-bats. 


Cubs chip away at roster

(3/22/2013) The Cubs made another round of roster cuts Friday, moving the following players to their minor-league camp: pitchers Drew Carpenter, Casey Coleman, Jaye Chapman, Jensen Lewis and Blake Parker; outfielders Brian Bogusevic, Darnell McDonald and Johermyn Chavez; and infielders Edwin Maysonet and Brad Nelson. Chicago also optioned Chris Rusin to Triple-A Iowa. He could be a candidate for a spot start later in the season.
