It was real good. I figured out a few things, got my rhythm back a little bit. That's probably the biggest thing, making sure you've got some rhythm with the mechanics in your delivery. And this was very good, so I'm excited."

Adams entered the game in an important spot, tied 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth, and the rust from not pitching for five days showed. Adams walked the first batter he faced and allowed a single to the second. He retired the next two batters, before being pulled with runners at the corners.

One of his inherited runs would come around to score, saddling Adams with an earned run and a loss for two-thirds of an inning of work.

Adams is now 1-4 with a 4.22 ERA on the season.

Mike Adams not in top form in return

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(5/28/2013) Phillies reliever Mike Adams made his first appearance Monday since coming back from a back injury, and the rust from not throwing a rehab assignment was apparent. Adams walked three batters and could not finish the inning despite throwing 30 pitches.

"He needs work," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "He definitely needs work. The part that was discouraging was 30 pitches. That means that we can’t use him [Tuesday]. He threw some balls that were close and he ended up walking some."

Adams ultimately allowed one run on one hit in the outing, to raise his ERA to 3.45 on the season. It was his first appearance in a game since May 10.
