(1/3/2014) Former Rangers pitcher Travis Blackley signed a one-year contract with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of the Japanese league, Nikkan Sports reports Thursday. Blackley appeared in 46 games and was 2-2 with a 4.83 ERA for the Rangers last season.

(9/1/2013) Rangers starter Travis Blackley (2-2) endured a rough outing as he failed to make it out of the fifth inning Sunday afternoon against the Twins. The left-hander permitted three runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out four over 4 1/3 innings of a 4-2 defeat.

Blackley has allowed eight earned runs combined over his first three starts with the Rangers (14 1/3 innings). He is scheduled to make his next start Saturday against the Angels in Los Angeles.

(8/27/2013) Rangers starter Travis Blackley got his second start with his new team Monday in Seattle. After lasting just four innings his last time out, Blackley was quality at Safeco Field for his first win with Texas.

Blackley improved to 2-1 on the season overall as he was making his second start for the Rangers since coming over from Houston. He gave up three earned runs on five hits and a walk over six solid innings Monday. He struck out four and threw 71 pitches.

The 30-year-old has allowed five runs on eight hits over his first 10 frames. Blackley has officially joined the rotation for manager Ron Washington and the Rangers. He makes his next start Sunday against Minnesota.

(8/20/2013) Few pitchers for the Texas Rangers could have known his opponent as well as starter Travis Blackley did in Tuesday's start. Blackley debuted for his new team against his old team, the Houston Astros.

Houston didn't greet him well, though he did end up with a no-decision on the outing. Blackley couldn't quality for a win despite the Rangers getting the lead by the sixth inning. He left after four full frames and 66 pitches.

Blackley allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out two and allowed a Matt Dominguez two-run homer in the second inning. Blackley is scheduled to remain in the Rangers' starting rotation. His next start should come Monday to begin a series in Seattle.

(8/19/2013) Recently acquired starting pitcher Travis Blackley will make his debut with the Rangers in a start Tuesday against his former team the Astros, FOX Sports reports. Blackley is taking the spot of Alexi Ogando, who was scratched Monday. 

Blackley has appeared in 42 games for Houston this season and has not made a start. He has a 4.89 ERA with 29 strikeouts over 35 innings pitched. Blackley has been a starter for the most part in the minors.

(8/1/2013) Making his first appearance since being struck by a fly ball in batting practice, Astros pitcher Travis Blackley gave up a solo home run in 1 1/3 innings of work without posting any walks or strikeouts in his team's 6-3 loss to the Orioles Thursday.

Blackley has given up three earned runs in his last five appearances, all on solo home runs. He owns 5.03 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 34 innings.

(7/31/2013) Astros pitcher Travis Blackley was struck on the head by a fly ball while in the outfield during batting practice Wednesday and has a contusion above his left eye, the Houston Chronicle reports. He is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

Blackley is 1-1 with a 4.96 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 28:18 K:BB ratio in 32 2/3 innings over 39 appearances.

Jose Cisnero, Travis Blackley and Chia-Jen Lo could all be options to get the ball for manager Bo Porter in the ninth.

(4/19/2013) Astros pitcher Travis Blackley began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City Thursday as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury. The left-hander allowed a run over two innings without permitting a hit and also struck out a batter.

Blackley retired the first six batters he faced before plunking Aaron Cunningham with a pitch to open the third inning and was then removed. There is no clear timetable for his return to the team after he was placed on the disabled list earlier this month with a strained left shoulder.

Blackley allowed 20 earned runs on 27 hits in 12 2/3 innings with the A's this spring. He has posted a 5.37 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 92:59 K:BB ratio in 142 1/3 innings during his major-league career.

(3/29/2013) The Athletics designated pitcher Travis Blackley and first baseman Daric Barton for assignment Friday, as they begin to trim down their roster heading into the regular season.

Blackley posted a 3.86 ERA in 102 2/3 innings for Oakland last season, but struggled mightily in the spring. He put up a 14.21 EA in seven Cactus League outings, likely sealing his fate.

Blackley told the San Francisco Chronicle that he may choose to decline his minor-league assignment if he clears waivers, making him a free agent. He said it would be a tough decision to leave the A's, but would do it if he can catch on somewhere in he majors.

(3/26/2013) A's pitcher Travis Blackley endured another rough outing in Tuesday's Cactus League contest against the Indians. He allowed three runs on four hits over two innings of work. The left-hander also struck out two and walked one while seeing his spring ERA rise to 14.21.

"He's a guy we're trying to make a decision on, and those are the situations that you evaluate closely," manager Bob Melvin told MLB.com. "Neither inning were pitched very well. He'll tell you that."

(3/16/2013) Athletics pitcher Travis Blackley surrendered three earned runs on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts in three innings Saturday against the Angels. Despite the mediocre line, Blackley was encouraged by the start.

"Considering it could have been a really bad day after the first, I'm happy with how it turned out," said Blackley, per MLB.com. "Today was the best I've felt since last year. Normally I'd be upset about three runs in three innings, but I'm actually real happy about that."

Blackley entered the day having allowed 11 earned runs in 4 2/3 innings over four spring performances, so Saturday's three-run outing lowered his spring ERA to 16.43.

(3/11/2013) Oakland rotation candidate Travis Blackley followed Jarrod Parker to the hill on Monday in a Cactus League appearance against San Diego. The Padres got to Parker over four innings and Blackley may have been even worse through one-plus. Blackley had to be removed one out into his second inning as he gave up four earned runs on five hits and a walk over 1 1/3. He struck out two and surrendered a two-run homer to Yonder Alonso in the fifth. Blackley's spring ERA is now at 21.21.
