The 34-year-old finished his 10-year career with a .270/.336/.366 slash line, with 31 homers and 286 RBI in 892 games played.

Bartlett played in just three games early this season before being sidelined. He struck out in each of his three at-bats.

Bartlett will part ways with the team Sunday to meet the Fort Myers club. He'll get some at-bats while continuing to recover from a sprained ankle.

Manager Ron Gardenhire had announced that Chris Herrmann would be called up Monday, but it was unclear which Twins player would wind up on the disabled list. The team is also dealing with injuries from Oswaldo Arcia and Josh Willingham, and could have placed either on the disabled list instead of Bartlett.

(3/29/2014) The Twins have selected the contracts of Jason Kubel and Jason Bartlett Saturday, the team announced.

Kubel rejoined the club after two seasons in Arizona. He hit .186 during spring training. Bartlett also rejoined the team after five seasons away. He hit just .098 in 41 at-bats this spring.

(1/9/2014) The Twins announced Thursday they invited 23 players to spring training as non-roster invitees. Among the more notable names are top prospects Miguel Sano, Byron Buxton and Alex Meyer.

Other notable names are infielder Jason Bartlett and outfielder Jason Kubel, who have played for the Twins in the past. 

The remaining list of invites include Sean Gilmartin, Matt Hoffman, Aaron Thompson, Deolis Guerra, Lester Oliveros, Yohan Pino, Kyle Knudson, Matt Koch, Dan Rohlfing, Stuart Turner, James Beresford, Doug Bernier, Deibinson Romero, Brandon Waring, Darin Mastroianni, Jermaine Mitchell, Chris Rahl and Wilkin Ramirez.


Twins sign Jason Bartlett to minors deal

(11/11/2013) ESPN.com reports that the Twins signed shortstop Jason Bartlett to a minor league deal Monday.

Bartlett last played in the majors for the Padres in 2012, appearing in only 29 games and batting .133. He began his major league career with the Twins in 2004.
