A's trim nine from spring camp


(3/21/2010) The Oakland A's have reassigned left-handed pitcher Lenny DiNardo, right-handed pitchers Fernando Hernandez and Marcus McBeth, catcher Josh Donaldson, infielders Adrian Cardenas, Gregorio Petit and Eric Sogard and outfielders Corey Brown and Matt Carson to their minor league camp, the club announced Sunday.

A's hand out 19 spring invites


(12/15/2009) Infielder Grant Desme, former Angels third baseman Dallas McPherson and ex-Reds reliever Marcus McBeth are among 19 players extended invitations to spring training on Monday by the A's. They also signed pitcher Matt Wright, infielder Matt Whitney, reliever Cedrick Bowers and reliever Fernando Hernandez to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training. The other 13 invitations are players already in the organization: right-handers Sam Demel and Tyson Ross; catchers Josh Donaldson, Joel Galarraga, Anthony Recker and Max Stassi; infielders Adrian Cardenas, Grant Green, Brett Wallace and Jemile Weeks; and outfielders Matt Carson, Corey Wimberly and Desme.

(3/20/2008) The Reds optioned OF Drew T. Anderson and right-hander Marcus McBeth to Triple-A Louisville. Right-handers Josh Roenicke and Tom Shearn were reassigned to the minors. The moves left the Reds with 44 players in camp, including injured left-hander Bobby Livingston and shortstop Alex Gonzalez, expected to miss the start of the season with a knee injury.

(7/7/2007) The Reds overhauled their work-in-progress bullpen with four more moves on Saturday, and put infielder Juan Castro on the 15-day disabled list with a partially torn ligament in his throwing elbow. Right-hander Kirk Saarloos was called up from Triple-A Louisville and right-hander Jared Burton was reinstated from the disabled list after recovering from back spasms. Rookie right-hander Marcus McBeth was optioned to Louisville and 32-year-old right-hander Ricky Stone was designated for assignment, ending their rocky stays with one of the NL's worst bullpens.
