(6/15/2014) The Angels have inked pitcher Fernando Nieve to a minor-league deal.

Nieve was with the Athletics earlier this season, but was let go after posting a 7.01 ERA in the minors. He was released by the club June 10.

(8/3/2013) The Indians have traded minor-league pitcher Fernando Nieve to the Athletics for cash considerations.

Nieve was 5-3 with a 1.81 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 55:12 K:BB ratio in 44 2/3 innings with Triple-A Columbus. He last pitched in the major leagues in 2010 as a member of the Mets.

Nieve is pitching with Triple-A Columbus. He has a 1.10 ERA, 37 Ks and a 4-1 record over 14 appearances and 32 2/3 innings.

(4/21/2013) The Indians have recalled pitcher Fernando Nieve, the club announced Sunday.

Nieve takes the roster spot of the injured Brett Myers, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Nieve will likely serve as a long reliever, as Corey Kluber will take Myers's place in the rotation. 

Nieve allowed a 5.96 ERA in 25 starts with Triple-A Albuquerque in the Dodgers' system last season. He last appeared in the majors in 2010 with the Mets.
