USA team for World Cup announced


(8/30/2009) USA Baseball has announced the 24-man roster for the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) Baseball World Cup, that will be played in Europe from Sept. 9-27. They optioned right-hander Jason Childers to Durham. Childers, who pitched a scoreless inning Friday against the Rangers, was 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA in five appearances.

(3/28/2006) The St. Petersburg Times reports that Tampa Bay still has to make some big decisions in the next few days. They need to hammer out the remaining spots in the bullpen behind Dan Miceli. Shawn Camp and Travis Harper appear to have made it also. But Jason Childers, Jesus Colome, Tim Corcoran, Chad Harville, Justin Miller and Chad Orvella are fighting for the other four spots. They also have to determine if Edwin Jackson or Doug Waechter will start from the fifth spot in the rotation.
