(7/21/2007) The Sports Xchange notes: RHP Scott Dohmann returned to the Rays with a different style than when he was sent down late in spring training, having added a split-finger fastball as his third pitch, improved his command, increased his velocity and adopted a more aggressive approach.

Devil Rays call up RP Dohmann

(7/19/2007) The Devil Rays designated outfielder Dustan Mohr for assignment, clearing a second spot for two pitchers from Triple-A Durham. They have 10 days to trade, release or outright him to the minor leagues. Tampa Bay purchased the contract of Scott Dohmann and recalled Jae Kuk Ryu. (3/28/2007) The Devil Rays optioned right-hander Tim Corcoran and left-hander J.P. Howell to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday and sent right-hander Scott Dohmann outright to the minor league affiliate. D-Rays hope Dohmann can improve

(1/28/2007) The Devil Rays haven't made significant improvements to their bullpen during the offseason. But they feel as if some small moves, such as the signing of right-hander Scott Dohmann, should make them better. Dohmann's statistics over the last three seasons (4-8, 5.74 ERA) are hardly impressive. But the Rays like that he has averaged more than a strikeout an inning -- 128 in 125 1/3 -- and that he has the talent to improve. "Scott is a fastball/slider pitcher, and both pitches are above average," Rays executive vice Andrew Friedman said. "He's someone our scouts like a lot."

But manager Clint Hurdle insisted the demotion had nothing to do with Monday night's relief outing, when Dohmann walked all three batters he faced. "Obviously, if he pitched better, it might have made it a little tougher to send him down. But I told Scott this was a decision about options and not about performance," Hurdle said.
