Mariners hand out 17 spring invites
(1/15/2009) Reliever Denny Stark is among the 17 non-roster players who received invitations to spring training, the Mariners announced Wednesday. The list of invitee includes eight pitchers, three catchers, four infielders and two outfielders. Besides Stark, right-handed pitchers Eric Hull, Chris Jakubauskas, Shawn Kelley, Luis Munoz, Tracy Thorpe and Sean White, along with left-hander Chris Seddon, will report to camp in Peoria, Ariz., Feb. 13. Veteran Jamie Burke heads the list of catchers, which also includes Adam Moore and Luis Oliveros. Infielders Chris Woodward, Callis Crabbe, Oswaldo Navarro and Chris Shelton, and outfielders Freddy Guzman and Prentice Redman also have been invited to camp.
(3/18/2007) The Mariners optioned INFs Michael Garciaparra, Bryan LaHair and Oswaldo Navarro, OFs Wladimir Balentien, LHP Travis Blackley, LHP Ryan Rowand-Smith and Michael Wilson to Triple-A Tacoma. Also, they reassigned Cs Jeff Clement and Rob Johnson, LHP Jim Parque, RHP Carlos Alvarado, RHP Jesse Foppert, RHP Juan Sandoval, C Luis Oliveras and SS Matt Tuiasosopo to minor-league camp and released LHP Matt Perisho.

(2/1/2007) The Mariners signed C Luis Oliveros, RHP Jesse Foppert, RHP Jorge Campillo, RHP Juan Sandoval, RHP Renee Cortez, RHP Aaron Small, RHP Carlos Alvarado and RHP Justin Lehr to minor league contracts and invited them to spring training. Also, they invited non-roster C Jeff Clement, C Rob Johnson, OF Rayon Lampe, RHP Brandon Morrow and 3B Matt Tuiasosopo to spring training.

(7/13/2006) The Mariners optioned outfielder Shin-Soo Choo to Triple-A Tacoma and outrighted catcher Luis Oliveros to Class A Inland Empire. Infielder Greg Dobbs and outfielder Adam Jones will be added to Seattle's 25-man roster Friday. Jones, who converted to outfield after last season, has appeared 70 games in center field and 11 games in right. Jones recorded a 20-game hit streak, hitting .376 with 21 runs scored, two doubles, four home runs, seven stolen bases and 14 RBI from June 14-July 8.
