Royals release George Sherrill from Triple-A

(6/28/2013) The Royals have released pitcher George Sherrill from Triple-A Omaha, according to the Kansas City Star

Sherrill has a 6.23 ERA in 21 games. He did not pitch in the majors this season. Sherrill last pitched in the majors with Seattle in 2012. He only appeared in two games.

(3/27/2013) Pitcher George Sherill has been re-signed by the Royals. The team cut him on Tuesday so that they wouldn’t have to pay a $100,000 bonus. Sherill is recovering from Tommy John surgery, and agreed to a minor-league deal. If his rehab goes well, he could be pitching in games before mid-season.

(3/26/2013) The Royals made a series of roster moves following their game Monday night, releasing outfielder Xavier Nady and relief pitcher George Sherrill from their minor-league contracts. The team also optioned outfielder David Lough to Triple-A Omaha.
