by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(5/6/2015) Giants catcher Buster Posey and third baseman Casey McGehee are out of the starting lineup Wednesday against the Padres, the team announced.

It will be just Posey's second day off of the season after starting 18 straight games for San Francisco. Andrew Susac will fill in for Posey and bat seventh. McGehee is getting a second consecutive day off to clear his head after scuffling at the plate to start the year. Matt Duffy will get his second straight start.

The Giants are currently the favorites (-138) against San Diego.

Giants' Casey McGehee feeling the heat from fans

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(5/6/2015) Giants third baseman Casey McGehee can't quite put things together yet at the plate, leading to manager Bruce Bochy to sit him in Tuesday's game. Over the weekend, McGehee was hit with a smattering of boos when he struck out with a chance to drive home runs. He said he understands, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

"I have no hard feelings toward anybody who got on me last night," McGehee said. "There were times last night, if I were up there, I'd have booed myself. I'm looking forward to the day I get things going and the boos turn around."

McGehee, who is hitting .181 with three RBI in 72 at-bats, thinks he's starting to have some better at-bats.

"I felt especially on the weekend I was swinging the bat pretty good," he said. "The trick is to just keep going. I've been down and out, counted out, before. The only way I know how to do it is to keep showing up, preparing, keeping my nose down and keep working.

"I guarantee you there wasn't one person in the stands who was more frustrated or disappointed than myself. It's not easy. (Booing) is not something you look forward to. At the same time, I'm frustrated, too."

Giants' Casey McGehee finding a rhythm at the plate

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(5/2/2015) Giants third baseman Casey McGehee is starting to feel it. The big man struggled early on at the plate, hitting just .169 in April. Manager Bruce Bochy knew the break out performance was coming, according to MLB.com.

"For whatever reason, it'd taken awhile just to settle in, period," McGehee said. "It's all on me. It's not anything anybody else has done or anything like that. Just kind of finding that rhythm of maybe not trying to do too much and being able to finally start to kind of relax. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is not so much focus on our results and just kind of focus on the things you can control."

McGehee went 3 for 4 at the plate Saturday with an RBI, boosting his average to .200 on the year.

"Sometimes you'd like to think you're mentally tough enough for whatever, but sometimes you just need to see something good happen," McGehee said. "It goes a long ways towards helping building confidence."
