Giants release Mark Teahen, Ryan Cavan

(3/19/2014) The Giants released several minor-league players Wednesday, including infielders Mark Teahen and Ryan Cavan, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Teahen was signed to a minor-league deal in February after bouncing around the league in 2013. Cavan hit .281/.331/.367 with three home runs and 38 RBI in 300 at-bats with high Class A San Jose last season.

(2/15/2014) Third baseman Mark Teahen, who has not had a major league at-bat since 2011, has been signed to a minor league contract by the Giants, a source has told SB Nation. He has not been invited to spring training.

Teahen had bounced from Arizona to Cincinnati to Texas since April 2013. He was a solid starter for Kansas City from 2005 to 2009.

(5/23/2013) The Rangers signed veteran Mark Teahen to a minor-league contract Thursday. Teahen was released by the Diamondbacks May 20.

Teahen had been playing for Arizona's Triple-A team prior to his release. Teahen hit .211 with three doubles and five RBI in 22 games for Reno.

(5/20/2013) Diamondbacks third baseman/outfielder Mark Teahen has been granted his release from the team, according to mlbtraderumors.com

Teahen was with the Diamondbacks Triple-A club early in the year but was traded to the Reds. Cincinnatti was not happy with his physical, and Teahen ended up back in Arizona. The organization sent him to extended spring training because there were no available roster spots in Triple-A Reno. 

Teahen is a free-agent and can sign with any team. He has a career .264/.327/.409 line over 2,873 at-bats.
