Braves sign reliever Todd Coffey

(2/11/2015) The Braves have signed reliever Todd Coffey to a minor-league deal, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

The 34-year-old Coffey spent last season pitching in Triple-A with the Mariners. He posted a 1.93 ERA over 37 1/3 innings. He has not pitched in the majors since 2012. Coffey joins a number of veteran pitchers who have hooked on with Atlanta in the past few days. He'll hope to carve out a role with the team during camp.

The 34-year-old spent last season in Triple-A with the Dodgers. He posted a 1.93 ERA over 37 1/3 innings. Coffey is likely to sign soon, according to the report. He last pitched in the majors in 2012.

(5/22/2014) The Mariners' deal with Todd Coffey was completed Thursday, and CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman has the details.

Coffey has been signed to a minor-league deal after passing a physical, and will be paid $750,000 if he makes it to the majors. The deal also included $350,000 in possible incentives, though will pay him just $15,000 while he is in the minors.

The deal is pending a physical. Coffey missed all of last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He has a 4.10 career ERA over eight seasons in the majors.
