(8/22/2009) The Seattle Mariners optioned right-hander Chris Jakubauskas to Triple-A Tacoma and purchased the contract of righty Randy Messenger from their top minor league club. To make room for Messenger on the 40-man roster Saturday, the Mariners released minor league right-hander Luis Pena.
(3/16/2009) Seattle RP Luis Pena allowed one hit and three earned runs in 2/3 of an inning against the Indians on Monday. Pena, who has a 15.75 ERA on the spring, walked two and allowed a ninth-inning home run to Chris Gimenez.
