Royals give bullpen role to J.C. Gutierrez

(3/28/2013) With Dan Wheeler's demotion to minor-league camp Thursday, J.C. Gutierrez has won the final spot in the Royals' bullpen, according to The Kansas City Star. Guiterrez, who is 5-10 with a 4.79 ERA and 24 saves in 150 career outings, has a 4.50 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 12 spring appearances.

(9/29/2012) Kansas City signed reliever Juan Gutierrez, coming off Tommy John surgery, to a minor league contract. Gutierrez finished the season with Triple-A Omaha.
