(3/12/2007) Outfielder Rajai Davis and catcher Carlos Maldonado, who spent time with Pittsburgh late last season, were among 11 players cut by the Pirates on Monday. Optioned to Double-A Altoona were left-handers Dave Davidson and Josh Shortslef, right-hander Romulo Sanchez, infielder Javier Guzman and outfielder Nyjer Morgan. Also reassigned to the minor league camp were right-handers Franquelis Osoria and Allan Simpson, infielder Eddy Garabito and outfielder Vic Buttler.

RHP Franquelis Osoria gave up five consecutive hits and didn't retire a batter in his appearance Wednesday, including consecutive home runs to Josh Barfield and Geoff Blum.
