(5/7/2007) Manager Bobby Cox said he hasn't decided on a starting pitcher for Tuesday night against San Diego. The rotation spot was left open when LHP Mark Redman was placed on the DL. LHP Oscar Villarreal could start if not needed in relief before Tuesday, but GM John Schuerholz indicated to MLB.com on Sunday the club could either go with Kevin Barry or someone from Triple-A Richmond. Jonathan Johnson, who pitched an abbreviated outing Sunday, Anthony Lerew, Macay McBride, Trey Hodges and Buddy Carlyle have all been pitching well in the Triple-A rotation. Schuerholz told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Barry and Lerew are the top candidates and McBride is not yet an option.

(5/2/2007) The Braves placed starting pitcher Mark Redman on the 15-day DL with a toe injury and purchased Kevin Barry's contract from Triple-A Richmond. Barry was 1-1 with a 5.61 ERA in 19 games, including one start, for Atlanta last season.

Barry stinks in first start
(8/13/2006) Kevin Barry (0-1) made his first major league start Saturday for Atlanta, which is struggling to get by with three members of its rotation on the DL. The rookie right-hander didn't last long, yanked with one out in the fourth after surrendering seven hits, five runs and three walks. "I just made two bad pitches and I paid for it," Barry said in a generous self-assessment. Barry was the 11th starter used by the Braves this season.

(8/11/2006) The Braves placed Horacio Ramirez on the DL on Friday with a sprained left middle finger and recalled Kevin Barry from Triple-A Richmond. The 27-year-old right-hander was 4-5 with a 3.30 ERA in 18 games, including 15 starts, with Richmond. In two earlier stints with Atlanta, Barry had a 5.91 ERA in six games, all in relief. He pitched 10 2/3 innings, giving up eight hits and seven runs.

(8/10/2006) The Braves will start Kevin Barry on Saturday to fill Horacio Ramirez's rotation spot. Barry gets the nod over Lance Cormier, who was 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA in eight Triple-A starts.

(8/8/2006) Horacio Ramirez has a partially torn ligament in his middle finger and will be placed on the DL. Manager Bobby Cox said Tuesday there's a "good chance" Ramirez is done for the year, though the lefty hopes to return in a few weeks. Ramirez (5-5) underwent an MRI scan and was to be examined Wednesday by Dr. Gary Lourie, a hand specialist, who will determine the best course of treatment. Lance Cormier, who began the season in the Braves' bullpen, is most likely to be called up from Richmond to start. Kevin Barry is another possibility.

(7/7/2006) The bright spot for Atlanta pitching was rookie Kevin Barry, who gave up one walk and no hits with five strikeouts in four innings on Friday against the Reds. He has given up only two hits in his first nine scoreless innings over three games.

(7/2/2006) The Atlanta Braves placed reliever Chris Reitsma back on the disabled list Sunday with ulnar neuritis in his right arm. The team recalled pitcher Kevin Barry from Triple-A Richmond to fill Reitsma's spot on the roster. Barry was demoted on Friday when Reitsma was activated.

(6/30/2006) Atlanta Braves reliever Chris Reitsma was activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday, after missing 17 days with a condition that caused numbness in the fingers on his pitching hand. Reitsma said the ulnar neuritis condition in his right arm has cleared and he was available to pitch in Friday night's game against the Baltimore Orioles. To clear a roster spot for Reitsma, rookie Kevin Barry was sent back to Triple-A Richmond.

(6/27/2006) RHP Kevin Barry made his major league debut in the sixth inning Monday at the Yankees. The 27-year old righty, who grew up two hours from Yankee Stadium, walked one and scattered two hits in three scoreless innings.
