by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com
(5/22/2013) Reds reliever Nick Masset is throwing from 120 feet for the first time since he was shut down in April, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Masste had shoulder surgery in September and suffered a setback prior to the season. He still hasn't thrown off a mound and the club has not made any announcements about a rehab assignment or a return date.

Reds shift Nick Masset to 60-day DL

by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com
(4/21/2013) The Reds have shifted reliever Nick Masset to the 60-day disabled list, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Masset's 40-man roster spot was required for the Reds to call up Corky Miller, the replacement for injured catcher Ryan Hanigan. Masset recently encountered a setback in his recovery from a shoulder injury that kept him out of the 2012 season and put him on the disabled list prior to the start of 2013. He isn't eligible to return until May 30.

(4/20/2013) Reds pitcher Nick Masset was pulled from his throwing program after experiencing a setback with his shoulder that landed him on the disabled list prior to the start of the season, MLB.com reports. Masset missed the entire 2012 season with a torn anterior capsule in his right shoulder and was restricted to long tossing on flat ground in spring training.

(3/31/2013) The Reds placed pitcher Nick Masset on the 15-day disabled list Sunday as he continues to work on building strength in his ailing right shoulder. Masset was sidelined the entire 2012 season with a shoulder injury that required surgery, and there is no timetable for his return.

Masset building arm strength

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(3/8/2013) Cincinnati reliever Nick Masset, who missed the 2012 season with a shoulder injury, is still behind spring training schedule and does not have a timetable. In fact, he is long-tossing at distances of up to 130 feet between 80-100 times every other day and playing catch in between those days. "Pretty much, I'm trying to build up arm strength overall," Masset said. "I've been able to throw, for the most part, pain free. It's been really good and promising so far. It's exciting to have that feeling come back. It can be a little discouraging at times. The first month or two were a little shaky. I had my good days and bad days."

Masset to start slowly in spring

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(2/11/2013) Cincinnati relief pitcher Nick Masset, who underwent shoulder surgery on Sept. 7 and is recovering, remains a long way from having a normal spring training schedule, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer Monday. Masset is currently throwing from 90 feet three days per week. Masset said things are going well but there have been some setbacks. "In the beginning, it doesn't always go as smooth as silk,” he said. “ I've had some small setbacks.”
