(7/5/2014) Rockies pitcher Nick Masset suffered a left knee injury against the Dodgers, according to the Orange County Register on Saturday.

The Rockies have sent Masset out for an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. The right-hander allowed four runs on three hits and one walk without recording an out on Saturday. His status remains uncertain moving forward.

The team has called up pitcher Nick Masset from Triple-A Colorado Springs and optioned Ryan Wheeler down as a corresponding move. Tyler Chatwood was also transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

(3/17/2014) Rockies pitcher Nick Masset is recovering after having surgery on a staph infection that developed at the site of his thoracic outlet syndrome surgery of last year, MLB.com reports.

Masset had the operation Friday and returned to camp Monday. He hopes to pitch in games soon with the hopes of opening the season in the major-league bullpen.

(2/4/2014) The Rockies announced Tuesday 24 players received non-roster invites to spring training. The roster breakdown is 12 pitchers, four infielders, two outfielders and six catchers.

The pitchers are Christian Bergman, Brooks Brown, Greg Burke, Eddie Butler, Manny Corpas, Yohan Flande, Jonathan Gray, Pedro Hernandez, Chris Martin, Nick Masset, Scott Oberg and Josh Sullivan.

The four infielders are Paul Janish, Angelys Nina, Ben Paulsen and Rafael Ynoa. The two outfielders are Jason Pridie and Tim Wheeler.

The six catchers are Ryan Casteel, Dustin Garneau, Matt McBride, Michael McKenry, Tom Murphy and Jackson Williams.

Gray, Butler and Murphy are among the team's top prospects.

Arroyo has already drawn interest from the Mets, and Choo is expected to have several suitors as well.

(8/9/2013) Reds reliever Nick Masset will have surgery at some point next week to repair thoracic outlet syndrome, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Masset started the season on the disabled list and has not pitched since the 2011 regular season because of recurring issues. The right-hander is expected to miss the remainder of the season and is expected to become a free agent in 2014.

(6/22/2013) Reds reliever Nick Masset had a setback in his recovery from shoulder surgery, but he was able to throw a bullpen session Saturday. According to MLB.com, Masset's recovery has been fitful, but he still expects to return to the majors this season. 

“Right now I’m cutting it loose pretty good. I’m fairly close to where I’m probably 100 percent full speed," he said. "But it goes from feeling completely feeling completely normal to being my old self to what’s going on here and why all of a sudden is it acting up?”

Masste had shoulder surgery in September and suffered a setback prior to the season. He still hasn't thrown off a mound and the club has not made any announcements about a rehab assignment or a return date.

In fact, he is long-tossing at distances of up to 130 feet between 80-100 times every other day and playing catch in between those days. "Pretty much, I'm trying to build up arm strength overall," Masset said. "I've been able to throw, for the most part, pain free. It's been really good and promising so far. It's exciting to have that feeling come back. It can be a little discouraging at times. The first month or two were a little shaky. I had my good days and bad days."

Masset is currently throwing from 90 feet three days per week. Masset said things are going well but there have been some setbacks. "In the beginning, it doesn't always go as smooth as silk,” he said. “ I've had some small setbacks.”
