Tuiasosopo went 3 for 3 with three singles. He scored on Avisail Garcia's homer in the second inning and drove in a run in the sixth with an RBI single to shallow left field. Tuiasosopo is batting .375 after 40 at-bats.
Wednesday was the first time Tuiasosopo saw more than one at-bat in a game since picking up two RBI on May 2 in Houston.

"I'm happy with him," Leyland said of Tuiasosopo's performance overall, which included going 2 for 3 with a walk. "I left him in there that one inning, in case you're wondering, because the ball was going to left and it wasn't going anywhere to right. I was just hoping, with a guy on or two guys on, he might run into one. Get one up in the wind, you've got a three-spot or a two-spot."

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (3/28/2013) Tigers outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo has won a spot on the opening day roster, but according to general manager Dave Dombrowski, he tried to acquire Tuiasosopo late last season when the team needed a right-handed bat, according to MLive.com.
"We tried to get him and we couldn't acquire him," Dombrowski said. "He was one of the guys at the top of our list for this role on our team."
Tuiasosopo, who signed a minor-league deal in the offseason, will be a bench option for the Tigers after batting .302 (16 for 53) with four homers, six doubles and 10 RBI in his first 27 spring games.

Tuiasosopo has four home runs in the last 10 days and started in left on Saturday against New York left-handed starter Andy Pettitte.
Manager Jim Leyland has made it clear that the fourth outfielder will be a right-handed hitter. Tuiasosopo's competitors, Jeff Kobernus and Avisail Garcia, are either struggling, inexperienced, injured or a combination.
