(5/13/2014) Nationals outfielder Kevin Frandsen broke a 5-5 tie with a solo home run in the ninth inning of his team's 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

Frandsen picked the perfect moment for his first home run of the season, helping keep his team over .500 by securing its 20th win. He has hit .267/.333/.367 in 60 at-bats.

(3/25/2014) The Nationals are among two or three teams that have contacted infielder Kevin Frandsen after he opted out of his deal with the Phillies, the Washington Post reports.

Frandsen was outrighted to the minors Sunday but chose to become a free agent Tuesday rather than reporting. It sounds like he won't be out of work for too long. Frandsen went 7 for 34 in Grapefruit League play this spring.

(6/23/2013) Kevin Frandsen hit a pinch-hit homer leading off the ninth inning Saturday to lift Philadelphia to an 8-7 victory against the Mets.

Frandsen parked the second pitch he saw from Carlos Torres (0-1) into the left-field stands. It was Frandsen's first career pinch-hit homer and game-ending homer. Frandsen said he hit a game-winning homer off Torres during a summer-league game while both were in college.

"You've got one chance," Frandsen said. "I'm trying to get on base. I'm not a home-run hitter. Fortunately I got a pitch to hit. You get a pitch to hit, hopefully you do something with it and I did. It was awesome."

(6/21/2013) With Chase Utley back from the disabled list, Phillies infielder Kevin Frandsen is expected to see a decrease in playing time, according to MLB.com.

Frandsen, who started at second base six times in the past week. He is hitting .274/.384/.425 with two home runs and 10 RBI in 43 games played.

"I know I'm good enough here, I can play at this level at a great level," said Frandsen, who has played in 326 Major League games in his career. "That's what I believe in myself, and I prepare myself for that."

The 30-year-old hit the first pitch he saw from closer Greg Holland and cleared the bases with a walk-off double, giving Philadelphia the 4-3 win.

Frandsen has a large welt on his wrist, but he said he is OK and just a little sore, according to CSN Philadelphia. Frandsen was 0-for-1 before leaving the game. He's batting .279 (17-for-61) with two homers and 10 RBI in 24 spring games.
