Nationals send six players to minors

(3/13/2014) The Nationals optioned outfielder Michael Taylor and starting pitcher Matt Purke to Double-A Harrisburg Thursday. The Nationals also reassigned pitcher Clay Hensley, pitcher Josh Roenicke, pitcher Daniel Stange and pitcher Danny Rosenbaum to minor-league camp.

(1/21/2014) The Nationals have signed pitcher Clay Hensley to a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training.

Hensley spent last season in the minors with the Reds and Brewers, but he didn't sign another deal after being released by Milwaukee in mid-June. He allowed one earned run in 14 1/3 innings of independent-league ball and nine earned runs in 20 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level.

(6/11/2013) Pitcher Clay Hensley was released by the Brewers Tuesday, according to FoxSportsWisconsin.com.

Hensley only appeared in four games for the club's Triple-A team in Nashville before his release. He was with the Reds earlier in the season. He had a 3.92 ERA in 20 2/3 innings in the minors this year.

(5/27/2013) The Brewers signed free-agent reliever Clay Hensley Monday and assigned him to Triple-A Nashville, to take the place of recently recalled reliever Donovan Hand.

Hensley posted a 4.62 ERA in 60 appearances for the Giants last season.
