Capps hasn't throw a pitch in a major league game since 2012.

Matt Capps won't make Indians' opening day roster

by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com
(3/18/2013) Matt Capps will not make the Indians' opening day roster, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reported Monday.

Capps, 29, was wild in his few appearances this spring, as he walked three batters in four innings. Capps posted a 3.68 ERA (111 ERA+) last season but struggled with injuries. He missed 79 games over two disabled list stints with shoulder inflammation.

The Indians have not yet decided if they will release Capps or keep him in the minors. If Capps and the club agree for him to start the season in the minors, Capps can take a $100,000 retention bonus and opt out of his contract on or before June 1.
