Rockies release Manny Corpas

(7/13/2014) Reliever Manny Corpas requested and received his release from the Rockies late Saturday night, according to MLB.com. Corpas is seeking an opportunity with another MLB team.

Corpas, who last pitched in the majors in 2013, was 1-2 with a 5.29 ERA in 28 appearances (one start) for Triple-A Colorado Springs.


Rockies will have 24 non-roster invites in spring camp

(2/4/2014) The Rockies announced Tuesday 24 players received non-roster invites to spring training. The roster breakdown is 12 pitchers, four infielders, two outfielders and six catchers.

The pitchers are Christian Bergman, Brooks Brown, Greg Burke, Eddie Butler, Manny Corpas, Yohan Flande, Jonathan Gray, Pedro Hernandez, Chris Martin, Nick Masset, Scott Oberg and Josh Sullivan.

The four infielders are Paul Janish, Angelys Nina, Ben Paulsen and Rafael Ynoa. The two outfielders are Jason Pridie and Tim Wheeler.

The six catchers are Ryan Casteel, Dustin Garneau, Matt McBride, Michael McKenry, Tom Murphy and Jackson Williams.

Gray, Butler and Murphy are among the team's top prospects.


Manny Corpas signs minor-league deal with Rockies

(1/31/2014) Reliever Manny Corpas has signed a minor-league deal with the Rockies, according to MLB.com.

Corpas will be invited to spring training to attempt to win a spot in the team's bullpen. He can opt out of his deal if he's unable to make the Opening Day roster. Corpas had a 4.54 ERA with the club last year. 


Manny Corpas clears waivers

(10/17/2013) Rockies pitcher Manny Corpas has cleared waivers, and will likely elect free agency, according to MLB.com.

The team needed to clear space on the 40-man roster, and decided to outright Corpas. Though Corpas is expected to become a free-agent, he expressed interest in returning to the club. Corpas had a 4.54 ERA in 41 2/3 innings. Corpas is planning to pitch in Venezuela in order to stay in shape.

Corpas has a 4.50 ERA in 32 innings for the Rockies, and the Denver Post reports he should only be down in the minors for a few weeks.

(6/1/2013) With Rafael Betancourt on the disabled list, the Rockies are expected to promote veteran right-hander Manny Corpas from Triple-A Colorado Springs, a league source told The Denver Post Saturday.

Corpas served as the closer in the team's 2007 World Series campaign. He is 2-3 with a 5.19 ERA in 34 2/3 innings pitched at Triple-A. Rex Brothers will serve as the closer with Betancourt on the DL. Corpas will be the backup option for the Rockies.
