(3/27/2013) The Phillies are still deciding who will back up Erik Kratz at catcher to begin the season with Carlos Ruiz serving a 25-game suspension, according The Philadelphia Inquirer. Humberto Quintero was considered the favorite at the beginning of the spring, but Steven Lerud has impressed the coaching staff with his defense, making it a tougher decision as the spring winds down.
"I'd love to make the big-league team and be a part of what they have going on here, but I just have to keep doing what I'm doing and let everything play out how it's going to," Lerud said.
Lerud is batting .235 this spring, while Quintero is hitting .296.
