Kyle Seager connects for third May home run

Kyle Seager ended a 2-for-15 slump Monday at Cleveland with a 2-for-5 performance. He had his sixth home run and 13th double, while scoring two runs and adding one RBI.
Seager is batting .246 (15 for 61) with three doubles, three home runs and nine RBI in 16 May games.
Kyle McClellan feeling good in rehab

(5:47 pm ET) Kyle McClellan took another step towards getting back on a major league mound Monday, the
Dallas Morning News reports. McClellan
made his second appearance with Double-A Frisco.
He pitched an inning and did not give up a hit. McClellan last pitched in the majors in July 2012 with the Cardinals before he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery. He signed a minor league contract with the Rangers in the offseason, but injured his lat in spring training.
"I feel, now, better than I’ve felt in two years," McClellan said. "I don’t have to think about my shoulder when I go out there."
Mets add David Aardsma at Triple-A

David Aardsma to a minor league contract Monday and assigned him to Triple-A Las Vegas, MLB.com reports.
The 31-year-old began the year with Miami's Triple-A team in New Orleans, but was released Wednesday.

Edwin Encarnacion drove in three runs and extended his hitting streak to six games Monday against the Rays with a 2-for-4 performance. Encarnacion scored a run and had his fifth double.
Encarnacion is batting .478 (11 for 23) with two home runs, three doubles, six runs and nine RBI during his six-game streak.
Marlins recall Jordan Brown

active roster from Triple-A New Orleans Monday, MLB.com reports. Brown takes the place of Matt Diaz, who was placed on the DL.
Brown has been mostly a first baseman with New Orleans. He could also play some left field. The 29-year-old has seen 29 major league games over the course of his career and hit .230 over that stretch of 87 at-bats with seven doubles and two RBI.
Melky Cabrera producing in May

Melky Cabrera pushed his hitting streak to seven games Monday against the Rays with a 2-for-4 performance. Cabrera had his 10th double, one run and one RBI.
Cabrera is batting .429 (12 for 28) with five RBI, six runs and six doubles during the streak. He's actually performed pretty well throughout May, batting .362 (25 for 69) with one home run, eight doubles, nine RBI and 10 runs.
Joey Votto nets NL POTW honors

Joey Votto was named National League Player of the Week Monday, MLB.com reports. He hit a major league-best .583 last week.
The 29-year-old Votto also led the NL with a .655 on-base percentage and tied for second in hits with 14. He was third in total bases with 22. He homered twice and drove in five runs.
"Joey is going to have those streaks because he demands perfection and has been working hard to get to this point," Reds manager Dusty Baker said Saturday. "When he's right, Joey Votto is one of the best there is."
T.J. McFarland could start down the line

earn a start down the line for Baltimore, MASNSports.com reports Monday.
Manager Buck Showalter has been impressed, but did say he'll remain in the bullpen for now.
"He was impressive again yesterday," Showalter said of McFarland, who threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Chris Tillman Sunday. "I'm real proud of our scouting department. So far, so good with him. He's a guy we've thought about starting, too, but right now it's Freddy and Jair."
Yunel Escobar stays hot with fourth home run

Yunel Escobar connected for his fourth home run Monday at Toronto -- a two-run shot off Blue Jays closer Casey Janssen in the ninth inning. It was his second home run in 11 games.
Escobar is batting .313 (15 for 48) with two home runs, five doubles, 10 RBI and 10 runs in his last 13 games. Escobar is batting .303 in his last 22 games, lifting his average from .119 to .222.
Michael Kirkman is long man in bullpen

new long man in the bullpen, FOX Sports reports Monday.
Kirkman has a 6.11 ERA and blew a save his last time out Sunday against Detroit. That said, he hasn't allowed an earned run in four straight appearances. He has 21 Ks over 17 2/3 innings.
