Travis Snider sitting out Monday

(6:31 pm ET) Pirates outfielder Travis Snider was not in the team's starting lineup Monday.

Snider is dealing with a hamstring injury. He made an appearance in Sunday's game, hitting a home run in his only at-bat. Prior to that, Snider had missed three days with the injury. He's hitting .256/.337/.396 over 164 at-bats.


Two AL teams checking in on Jon Lester

(6:29 pm ET) The Orioles and the Mariners are among the American League teams that have inquired about Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester, according to FOX Sports on Monday.

Lester is a native of Tacoma, Wa. and may welcome a homecoming to Seattle. The Dodgers have also become a possible destination for the 30-year-old. In 21 starts, the left-hander is 10-7 with a 2.52 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP over 143 innings of work. His final start with the Red Sox could come Wednesday against Toronto.

Joe Panik returns to action Monday

(6:18 pm ET) Giants infielder Joe Panik returned to action Monday against the Pirates.

Panik hasn't played since July 25 due to an ankle injury. He'll hit second against Vance Worley. Over 63 at-bats, Panik is hitting .222. 


Barry Enright hooks up with Dodgers in minor league deal

(5:53 pm ET) The Dodgers have signed to a minor league contract right-hander Barry Enright, whose career has been going downhill since a briefly encouraging run with Arizona in 2010. He is set to pitch Monday night for Triple-A Albuquerque

The 28-year-old Enright has pitched in just 14 major league games since recording a 6-7 mark with a 3.91 ERA with the Diamondbacks that season.


Kameron Loe breaks hand in minor-league brawl

(5:48 pm ET) Diamondbacks pitcher Kameron Loe broke his hand in a minor-league brawl, according to MLB.com.

Loe has only played in six games at Triple-A Reno. He's compiled a 9.00 ERA over 10 games played. Loe has not appeared in the majors this season. 


Brewers minor-leaguer Nick Delmonico suspended 50 games

(5:44 pm ET) Brewers minor-league infielder Nick Delmonico has been suspended 50 games.

Delmonico tested positive for an amphetamine. He was acquired by the club last season in the Francisco Rodriguez deal. Delmonico was hitting .262 ove 141 at-bats in Class A. 


Report: Red Sox don't plan on trading Koji Uehara

(5:43 pm ET) According to a report from Comcast SportsNet Northeast, the Red Sox have no intentions of trading closer Koji Uehara before Thursday's trade deadline.

The 39-year-old has converted 21 saves in 23 attempts, with a 1.52 ERA and a 0.75 WHIP this season. The Red Sox are expected to make a qualifying offer to Uehara in the neighborhood of $15 million for next season, according to the report.

Phillies asking for 'the world' in talks for Cole Hamels

(5:39 pm ET) The Phillies want "the world" for pitcher Cole Hamels, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

The club is willing to trade Hamels, but only if there's a big return. Hamels can block trades to 20 clubs, but could be willing to waive his no-trade clause based on the Phillies poor performance. Hamels is still owed $105 million on his deal, which could limit the teams that can actually make a play for the left-hander. 

Over 122 1/3 innings, Hamels has a 2.72 ERA. 


Kenny Wilson gets DFA'd by A's

(5:36 pm ET) The Athletics have designated outfielder Kenny Wilson for assignment Monday, in order to clear room for newly promoted outfielder Billy Burns on Monday, according to MLB.com. Wilson is hitting .218 with two homers and 27 RBI in 330 at-bats between four different organizations in the minors, including Triple-A Sacramento and Triple-A Rochester.

Ryan Hanigan on schedule to rejoin Rays on Friday

(5:36 pm ET) Rays catcher Ryan Hanigan will begin a rehab stint Wednesday with Class A-Advanced Charlotte and could return to the big league team as early as Friday, per the Tampa Bay Times.

A left oblique injury has sidelined Hanigan since July 8. He will seek to improve his production at the plate upon his return. Hanigan was hitless in his last five games before going down as his average fell to .212.
