Blue Jays SP Aaron Sanchez allows two runs in no-decision
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5:07 pm ET) Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez took a no-decision in Saturday's loss to the Twins. The young right-hander pitched well, limiting the Twins to just two runs on seven hits over six innings. He walked three and struck out five, as his ERA dropped to 3.88.

Sanchez served up a solo home run to Chris Herrmann in the third inning, and then gave up a run-scoring double to Trevor Plouffe in the fourth.

After a rough beginning to the season, Sanchez has now tossed three straight quality starts for the Blue Jays. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start, scheduled for Friday at home against the Astros.

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(5:06 pm ET) Brewers left fielder Khris Davis was forced to leave Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks with an undisclosed injury, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Davis left after an awkward final swing in the first inning and was replaced by Gerardo Parra in left. Davis is hitting .250 with 16 RBI in 148 at-bats this season.

Juan Lagares playing through pain for Mets
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(5:01 pm ET) Mets center fielder Juan Lagares is playing through two different injuries, but he remains in the team's lineup.

Lagares has a rib injury that is causing him pain, but it shouldn't get aggravated by him staying in the lineup. He also has an elbow injury that has bothered him since spring training.

"He's not going to get worse," manager Terry Collins said, per NJ.com. "That's the one thing we know. This rib issue is not going to get worse. They said it's going to gradually get better as you move into the season. If you can play through the discomfort and the symptoms of it all, you'll be OK. He's tried to. The biggest issue is more the elbow than anything else. Because he's made some throws, some big throws lately. That's what we're trying to monitor."

Rockies pitching prospect Joel Freeland dealing with injuries
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:59 pm ET) Rockies pitching prospect and 2014 first-round pick Kyle Freeland has been sidelined this season with shoulder fatigue and minor surgery to remove bone chips in his arm, per the Denver Post.

He began throwing and playing catch this week.

Freeland signed last year for $2.3 million, a bit under his slot in part due to rumors of past elbow issues.

Report: Giants to grant release Saturday to SP Kevin Correia
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:53 pm ET) Veteran pitcher Kevin Correia, who has a June 1 opt-out with the Giants, is expected to be granted his release Saturday, per ESPN.

He had been dispatched to Triple-A Sacramento on May 1.

The 13-year veteran has not pitched in the majors this season. He had four solid years as a starter from 2009 to 2012.

Blue Jays veteran Maicer Izturis had tear in right shoulder
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:40 pm ET) Second baseman Maicer Izturis has a tear in his right shoulder that will be examined again before the Blue Jays determine the extent of the injury and how long he will be sidelined, per MLB.com.

Izturis sustained the injury while diving after a ball in a May 23 rehab game.

He has had 11 stints on the disabled list in 11 years. He appeared in just 11 games last year because of a torn ligament in his left knee.

Izturis appeared destined to earn the second base job with the Jays in spring training this season, but he strained a groin. He was on a rehab assignment for that when he suffered the latest setback.

Astros pitching prospect Vincent Velasquez on manager's radar
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:30 pm ET) A.J. Hinch has mentioned fireballing prospect Vincent Velasquez as a possibility to start if the Astros need to bolster their rotation this season.

Injuries have proven costly as the team has used nine starters already.

"Velasquez is throwing the ball very well," Hinch told the Houston Chronicle.

He is 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA at Double-A Corpus Christi and has allowed just 14 hits in 19 1/3 innings with seven walks and 28 strikeouts.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:11 pm ET) The Red Sox have announced that infielder Jeff Bianchi has turned down an assignment to Triple-A Pawtucket and opted for free agency.

Bianchi was designated Thursday after garnering one at-bat for Boston this season.

Braves pick up journeyman catcher Ryan Lavarnway
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4:05 pm ET) Veteran catcher Ryan Lavarnway wasn't out of work long. Four days after the Orioles designated him for assignment, he has been signed by the Braves. He will join their Triple-A Gwinnett team, the Atlanta Journal Constitution has reported.

Lavarnway earned 28 at-bats for Baltimore this season, but managed just three hits.

Dodgers SS Jimmy Rollins banished to eighth spot Saturday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3:57 pm ET) Dodgers shortstop Jimmy Rollins has finally started to produce. He's on a six-game hitting streak.

So what thanks does he get? He has been lowered to eighth in the lineup Saturday in St. Louis after occupying one of the top two spots in all 41 games he has played this season.

Joc Pederson and Justin Turner are holding down those two places in the order against the Cardinals.
