Senior Fantasy Writer
  •

Sharpen your pencils and clean off your smudgy glasses.

It's quiz time!

You don't get points just for filling in your name correctly, and you actually don't get anything for getting a perfect score (outside of being able to go out to a bar and tell every woman you see that you correctly answered all 15 questions on a Fantasy quiz on the Internet today), but, hey, everybody loves a fun little testing of wits. And if you behave, we might just get to play a little seven-up later on.

So close the books and put away the calculators. You have 10 minutes to complete all the answers below (all stats are through games played on Thursday, June 14):

1. The highest-scoring second baseman in Fantasy, with 227 points, is?

Mark Teixeira says he's ready to return
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(2:45 pm ET) Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira says he's ready to return to action, according to the New York Post

Teixeira was able to play three innings during an extended spring game and reported no problems. He's expected to be activated Sunday, and will be "disappointed" if he doesn't play. Teixeira is attempting to come back from a hamstring injury.

Hanley Ramirez: I'll be back in lineup Friday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2:33 pm ET) Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez is not anticipating missing another game with a left hand injury sustained on a hit-by-pitch against San Francisco on Wednesday. Ramirez told MLB.com that he plans on returning to the lineup Friday in the opener of a series against Arizona.

Jason Kipnis ejected after strikeout
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(2:31 pm ET) Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis was ejected from Thursday's game following a strikeout.

Kipnis had a rough day at the plate, grounding into a double play during his first at-bat and striking out his second time up. Following the strikeout, Kipnis may have said something while walking away from the umpire. The ump then ejected Kipnis from the game. Mike Aviles came into the game to replace Kipnis.

Cardinals make multiple moves with pitching staff
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(2:15 pm ET) The Cardinals have made several moves in the wake of starting pitcher Joe Kelly being placed on the disabled list. They have promoted pitchers Eric Fornataro and Jorge Rondon from Triple-A Memphis and dispatched fellow right-hander Keith Butler to the Redbirds.

Joe Kelly placed on DL with hamstring injury
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1:46 pm ET) A hamstring injury sustained Wednesday while attempting to beat out an infield hit has landed Cardinals right-hander Joe Kelly on the 15-day disabled list. He had been sent back to St. Louis for an MRI, the results of which have yet to be revealed.

Kelly has been brilliant in three starts with one earned run surrendered in 15 1/3 innings, though he owns just a 1-1 record. His 0.59 ERA leads the National League.

Brandon Maurer looking like the Sunday starter
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(1:42 pm ET) Mariners pitcher Brandon Maurer is looking like the Sunday starter, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Anthony Fernandez was also considered a candidate, but threw 83 pitches in Triple-A Wednesday. Maurer would replace Blake Beavan, who was placed on the disabled list due to shoulder issues. Maurer last pitched Monday, and would be on longer rest for Sunday's game.

Clayton Kershaw unleashes breaking pitches in session
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1:40 pm ET) Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw took another step Thursday in his recovery from an upper back injury by throwing 35 pitches, including breaking balls, per MLB.com.

The next step will be throwing to live hitters before a likely rehab stint serves as the precursor to his return to a big league mound in mid-May.

Billy Butler will be dropped in the order
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(1:37 pm ET) Royals designated hitter Billy Butler will be dropped in the batting order, according to the Kansas City Star.

Butler has gotten off to a terrible start, hitting just .149 with zero home runs over 47 at-bats. Manager Ned Yost admitted during a radio spot that Butler will be moved out of the cleanup spot. It's unclear how long Yost will keep Butler lower in the order.

Jose Abreu mired in slump
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(1:33 pm ET) White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu is mired in a 1 for 25 slump, according to ESPN.

Abreu collected one hit April 13, but that has been sandwiched between a four game stretch in which he has gone hitless. Abreu has seen fewer fastballs than most players, which is likely a sign pitchers are trying to get him out with breaking stuff. Most hitters experience a period of adjustment after they reach the majors, and Abreu will attempt to do so in the coming days.

Angel Pagan getting break Thursday
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1:24 pm ET) Giants center field Angel Pagan has been given the day off for the Thursday game against the Dodgers.

He will try upon his return to keep the absence from killing the momentum he has gathered throughout the beginning of the season. He has hit safely in 13 of 14 games and owns a stat line of .383/.431/.500. Particularly impressive is that Pagan has 10 RBI from the leadoff position.
