It's quiz time!

You don't get points just for filling in your name correctly, and you actually don't get anything for getting a perfect score (outside of being able to go out to a bar and tell every woman you see that you correctly answered all 15 questions on a Fantasy quiz on the Internet today), but, hey, everybody loves a fun little testing of wits. And if you behave, we might just get to play a little seven-up later on.

Chris Capuano can't preserve late lead

(10:45 pm ET) Dodgers pitcher Chris Capuano turned in another dominant performance as he settled for a no-decision Saturday night against the Braves.

Capuano, who made his fourth start of the season, pitched seven scoreless innings. He was unable to preserve the lead as he was charged with a run in the eighth. The left-hander permitted one run and five hits over eight innings of work. He struck out five and did not issue a walk in a 3-1 defeat.

Capuano is slated to face the Cardinals at home on Friday. He is 1-2 with a 8.03 ERA in three starts at Dodger Stadium.

Gordon Beckham gets two hits in rehab game

(10:45 pm ET) White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham opened up his rehab assignment as Triple-A Charlotte's designated hitter Saturday, going 2 for 4 with one walk and scoring three runs.

On the disabled list with a wrist injury, Beckham is expected to return to the White Sox for next weekend's series against the Marlins.


Gerardo Parra goes deep on first pitch

(10:36 pm ET) Diamondbacks outfielder Gerardo Parra launched his fourth home run of the season, which proved to be the difference during Saturday's contest against the Marlins.

Hitting coach Don Baylor gave Parra the green light to swing on the first pitch of the game. Parra took Tom Koehler deep for a leadoff solo home run on the first pitch of the game. He finished 1 for 3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI in a 1-0 victory.

He has reached base in each of the last 12 games. He is hitting .413 with two home runs and four RBI over that span.

Rays to call up Jeff Beliveau for short-term bullpen help

(10:33 pm ET) The Rays will call up relief pitcher Jeff Beliveau for bullpen depth Sunday before Jake Odorizzi is called up to make Monday's start, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Beliveau has made 11 Triple-A appearances this season, with one coming with the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate. He has a 3.65 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB ratio in 12 1/3 innings in Triple-A this year.


Brandon McCarthy throws complete game shutout

(10:30 pm ET) Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon McCarthy threw a complete game shutout against the Marlins Saturday night.

McCarthy got his first win since being struck in the head by a line drive last season. He allowed three hits, struck out five and walked two in the 1-0 victory. He has not allowed a run over his last two starts (17 innings).

McCarthy will make his next start Friday at home against San Diego. He is 0-2 with a 5.68 ERA in five starts at Chase Field.

Erik Bedard pitches six innings for first time this year

(10:28 pm ET) Astros pitcher Erik Bedard pitched six innings for the first time this season, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out three for his first quality start of the year. Bedard wound up with a no-decision after the game went into extra innings.

Bedard takes a 6.00 ERA into next weekend's start against the Athletics.


Tom Koehler a tough-luck loser to D-Backs

(10:24 pm ET) Marlins pitcher Tom Koehler allowed a leadoff home run to Gerardo Parra but suffered a tough-luck 1-0 loss Saturday night against the Diamondbacks.

Koehler (0-2), who made his second start of the season, held the Diamonbacks to three hits over six innings. He struck out seven and walked two.

Koehler has allowed three runs over 11 innings since joining the starting rotation. He has struck out eight and walked three over that span. He is scheduled to make his next start Friday at the White Sox.

Rick Porcello credits changeup for hot streak

(10:24 pm ET) Tigers starting pitcher Rick Porcello is 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 25 innings over his last four starts, and he's crediting his changeup.

"My changeup has been coming around nicely," Porcello told MLB.com "I've been able to get some swings and misses off it lately, especially with two strikes. I'm throwing it to both righties and lefties. It's been a nice pitch for me this year."

Porcello is 2-2 with a 5.92 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 38 innings this season.


John McDonald dealing with elbow issue

(10:09 pm ET) Pirates infielder John McDonald, on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain, is also experiencing elbow discomfort, manager Clint Hurdle told MLB.com Saturday.

McDonald is expected to go on a rehab assignment before he would be activated. He has been sidelined since May 14 and was hitless in his last six games before landing on the DL.

Chris Davis ties for AL lead with 12th homer

(10:08 pm ET) Orioles first baseman Chris Davis tied for the AL lead by hitting his 12th home run Saturday against the Rays . He went 2 for 4 with a single and the first-inning solo homer.
