Senior Fantasy Writer
  •

Sharpen your pencils and clean off your smudgy glasses.

It's quiz time!

You don't get points just for filling in your name correctly, and you actually don't get anything for getting a perfect score (outside of being able to go out to a bar and tell every woman you see that you correctly answered all 15 questions on a Fantasy quiz on the Internet today), but, hey, everybody loves a fun little testing of wits. And if you behave, we might just get to play a little seven-up later on.

So close the books and put away the calculators. You have 10 minutes to complete all the answers below (all stats are through games played on Thursday, June 14):

1. The highest-scoring second baseman in Fantasy, with 227 points, is?

Yangervis Solarte goes yard for first time
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(12:30 am ET) Yankees rookie infielder Yangervis Solarte launched his career first home run of the season Thursday night against the Rays in Tampa.

Solarte took Tampa Bay closer Grant Balfour deep for a solo home run in the ninth inning. He added a double and a single, falling a triple shy of a cycle. He finished 3 for 5 with one run scored and two RBI in a 10-2 victory. He is batting .373 (19 for 51) with nine RBI through 15 games.

Cole Hamels pitches seven innings in rehab finale
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12:26 am ET) Phillies starting pitcher Cole Hamels is likely to make his return to the rotation next week in Los Angeles, after twirling a gem in his final rehab start Thursday for Class A Clearwater.

Hamels tossed seven strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits. He walked one batter and struck out two while working efficiently throwing 57 of 81 pitches for strikes in the no-decision.

Hamels will likely make his return to the rotation next Tuesday against the Dodgers, after opening the season on the disabled list with a shoulder injury.

Andrew McCutchen finally slugs first homer
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12:26 am ET) Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen brought his season-opening power outage to an end Thursday, in an 11-2 win over the Brewers.

McCutchen's  homerless drought reached 15 games with the end of his last appearance, and he wasn't interested in letting it leak into a 16th game, as he took Yovani Gallardo deep in the bottom of the first for a 422-foot slam to center field. McCutchen drove in two runs on that swing, and added one more RBI on a fielder's choice later in the game, finishing 1 for 5 and extending his hitting streak to six games.

McCutchen has set the bar pretty high with his play in recent seasons, so his .262/.378/.410 line through 16 games is a disappointment so far. He has still driven in eight runs and score seven, with six extra-base hits in 61 at-bats.

Alfonso Soriano lifts off in win over Rays
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(12:22 am ET) Yankees outfielder Alfonso Soriano recorded three hits and went yard Thursday night against the Rays in Tampa.

Soriano took starter David Price deep for a solo home run in the fifth inning. He added two more singles and finished 3 for 5 with two runs scored and an RBI in a 10-2 victory. He is hitting .259/.295/.500 with four home runs and five RBI in 58 at-bats.

(12:16 am ET) The Tigers recalled pitcher Justin Miller from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, MLive.com reports. Miller has not allowed a run in four appearances (4 2/3 innings) in the minors.

Jarrod Dyson placed on bereavement leave
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(12:12 am ET) Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson was placed on bereavement leave following Thursday's game against the Astros, according to the Kansas City Star. Dyson is batting .125 with one hit in just eight at-bats.

Xander Bogaerts knocks one out of the park
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(12:02 am ET) It took 16 games, but Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts finally put one over the fences Thursday night against the White Sox.

Bogaerts took Chicago ace deep in the sixth inning for a solo home run. He finished 1 for 3 with one run scored and one RBI in a 3-1 win. He is hitting .268/.397/.357 with two RBI in 56 at-bats.

Chris Sale Ks 10 in no-decision
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(4/17/2014) White Sox pitcher Chris Sale bounced back with a dominant outing on Thursday, but was not backed by enough run support and was forced to settle for a no-decision in a 3-1 defeat to Boston.

Sale tossed five no-hit innings before surrendering a solo home run to Xander Bogaerts in the sixth. He was charged with one run on one hit and three walks while striking out 10 over seven innings pitched. He tossed 127 pitches, 77 of which were strikes.

Sale has permitted only four runs over his last 20 innings pitched. He'll look for his fourth win of the season Tuesday in Detroit.

Koji Uehara collects third save in first appearance back from injury
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(4/17/2014) Red Sox pitcher Koji Uehara took the mound for the first time since experiencing shoulder stiffness, as he recorded his third save of the season in his team's 3-1 win over the White Sox in Chicago.

Uehara struck out one and worked his way around a base hit, needing just 13 pitches to complete a scoreless frame and the save. He is 3 for 3 in save opportunities, with a 0.67 WHIP through six scoreless innings pitched to start the season.

Jon Lester Ks nine in dominant win over White Sox
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(4/17/2014) Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester put together a dominant outing on Thursday, outdueling Chris Sale and the White Sox for his second win of the season.

Lester (2-2) tossed five scoreless innings before allowing a run to score on an infield single to Adam Eaton in the sixth inning. He surrendered one run on seven hits and no walks while striking out nine over eight innings of work. He tossed 112 pitches, 75 of which were called strikes.

Lester has allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his first four starts. He will look for his third win of the season Tuesday at home against the Red Sox.
