Mets plan to use Matt Harvey in postseason
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(11:13 am ET) The Mets are still planning to use pitcher Matt Harvey in the postseason, reports ESPN.com.

Harvey has pitched 166 1/3 innings this season and his agent said 180 innings is his cap limit. Harvey missed the 2014 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

"We've consulted with Matt all the way through. We will continue to do that," assistant general manager John Ricco said. "I don't think anything will change... I think we're very comfortable with the fact that we've had a plan. It has involved the doctors all the way through. To this point, they're still fine with that plan. We all think it's a reasonable way to go."

Harvey is expected to start Tuesday's contest and then make three more regular season starts.

"We have not been given any kind of a hard cap," Ricco said. "They recommend. My experience has been, we work with the doctors, and we certainly listen to what they say, because they're the doctors. It's not my experience that I've ever heard of a doctor mandating a pitching limit."

It's more out of being conservative and precautionary with one of our young pitchers, is the reason why we sent him back to have looked at. We wanted to make sure we had this one right."
