Brewers CF Carlos Gomez belts first career grand slam on Friday

(11:18 pm ET) Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez had a terrific night at the plate on Friday, as he went 3 for 5 with five RBI in the 12-1 win over the Reds. 

With the Brewers already up 5-0, Gomez blasted a grand slam in the seventh inning to bust the game wide open. It was his first career grand slam, and his sixth home run of the season--his first since May 29.

Gomez has hit safely in six of his last eight games, but is batting just .250 over that stretch following Friday's performance.


Braves 3B Juan Uribe goes yard, extends hitting streak in win

(11:15 pm ET) Braves third baseman Juan Uribe hit his seventh home run of the season in Friday night's 2-1 victory over the Phillies. 

Uribe finished the game 1 for 4, with the homer his only hit of the game. Uribe has now recorded a hit in six consecutive games and has 18 RBI this season. Uribe has been successful since joining the Braves as he's posted a .303 batting average since being traded in late May. 

For the season, Uribe is hitting .279/.330/.426. 


Brewers' Ryan Braun doubles among three hits on Friday

(11:10 pm ET) Brewers right fielder Ryan Braun went 3 for 5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 12-1 crushing over the Reds. Bruan, who also stole his 10th bag of the season, is batting .485 (16 for 33) over his current eight-game hitting streak.

J.J. Hardy reaches base twice for Orioles

(11:10 pm ET) Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy went 1 for 3 with a walk in Friday's shutout loss to the White Sox.

Hardy got a hit for the fifth time in six games and reached base at least twice for the fourth time in the last six. 


Phillies P Adam Morgan has solid day in loss to Braves

(11:09 pm ET) Phillies pitcher Adam Morgan had another successful outing on Friday, albeit in a 2-1 loss to the Braves. 

Morgan surrendered two runs, both of them coming on homers. Other than the two bombs he allowed, Morgan had a solid second start, going seven innings, giving up five hits, walking two batters and striking out five. 

Morgan now has a 2.13 ERA and has struck out 11 batters while walking four combined in both of his starts. 


Tyler Flowers hits in sixth straight for White Sox

(11:07 pm ET) White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers went 1 for 3 in Friday's win over Baltimore. 

The single extended Flowers' hitting streak to six consecutive games. He's hitting .364 with a 1.137 OPS over the streak. 


Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy records three hits in win on Friday

(11:05 pm ET) Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy enjoyed a nice night at the plate in Friday's 12-1 win over the Reds. Lucroy went 3 for 5 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored in the blowout. 

Lucroy is 11 for 20 over his last four games, as he attempts to break from a season-long slump. The recent hot streak has pushed Lucroy's season batting average up to .256. 


White Sox's Jose Abreu homers for only run of game

(11:04 pm ET) White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu hit a solo home run in the third inning for the only run in a 1-0 win over Baltimore. 

Abreu hit his 14th homer of the year and drove in his 44th run. It was just his second homer and fifth RBI since June 13. 


Brewers' Gerardo Parra hits lead-off home run on Friday vs. Reds

(11:02 pm ET) Outfielder Gerardo Parra got the night off on the right foot for the Brewers on Friday. Parra launched a solo home run in the top of the first inning to give his club the early 1-0 lead. The homer was Parra's sixth of the season.

Parra, who finished the game 2 for 4 with two runs scored and driven in, has hit safely in seven of his last eight games. During that time, Parra is batting .433 with two homers and five RBI. 


David Robertson saves 17th with perfect ninth for White Sox

(11:00 pm ET) White Sox closer David Robertson pitched a perfect ninth inning to preserve a one-run lead over the Orioles on Friday. 

Robertson struck out the side on 12 pitches to convert his fourth save opportunity in a row.
