P Adam Conley, P Chris Reed up, C Tomas Telis down for Marlins

(2:13 pm ET) The Marlins have promoted left-handers Adam Conley and Chris Reed from Triple-A New Orleans and sent down catcher Tomas Telis to the same team.

Conley earned one start with Miami this season and allowed two runs in five innings. He is 9-3 with a 2.52 ERA in the minors in 2015.

Reed, who came over from the Dodgers on July 15, has yet to pitch in the big leagues. He has allowed just one run in his last 9 2/3 innings pitched for the Zephyrs.

Telis is batting .182 in just 11 at-bats at the major league level this year.


Angels SP C.J. Wilson to have surgery, may be out for year

(1:42 pm ET) An orthopedic surgeon has concluded that arthritis is a bigger issue than elbow inflammation for shelved Angels starter C.J. Wilson.

The result is that Wilson has announced he is destined for surgery and could be out for the season, per the Orange County Register.

Wilson was placed on the disabled list Friday after a terrible performance Tuesday. If he is indeed done, he will finish the year 8-8 with a 3.89 ERA.


New Angels' acquisitions give Kole Calhoun a day off

(1:40 pm ET) Angels right fielder Kole Calhoun isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game. It's just the fifth time this year that Calhoun hasn't started.

Newly acquired Shane Victorino and David DeJesus start in right and left field respectively. 

DeJesus becomes the 10th Angel to start in left this season. 


Taylor Featherston replaces Conor Gillaspie in Angels' lineup

(1:39 pm ET) Angels third baseman Conor Gillaspie isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game. Gillaspie has started five of the last six games at the hot corner. 

Taylor Featherston replaces Gillaspie in the lineup, starting at third for the eighth time this year. 


Dodgers CF Joc Pederson set to sit again Saturday

(12:49 pm ET) Slumping Dodgers center fielder Joc Pederson will sit for the second straight game Saturday against the Angels. It also marks his second consecutive benching against a left-hander.

Pederson, who is 17-for-73 against southpaws this season, has one multi-hit game since July 10 and has just 11 hits in his last 58 at-bats.


Dodgers stud lefty Clayton Kershaw finally fine for Saturday start

(12:44 pm ET) After having his start pushed back twice due to a hip issue, Dodgers co-ace Clayton Kershaw is ready to roll Saturday against the Angels.

Kershaw is on a 29-inning scoreless streak and three-game winning streak. He has 38 strikeouts over 26 innings during that stretch.


Red Sox 2B Jemile Weeks clears waivers, heads to Pawtucket

(12:30 pm ET) Second baseman Jemile Weeks cleared waivers and has been sent by the Red Sox to Triple-A Pawtucket, per the Providence Journal.

Weeks played in three games for Boston after his recent promotion and managed three hits in nine at-bats.


Williams upset at Nationals RF Bryce Harper for latest ejection

(12:23 pm ET) Matt Williams expressed anger at Nationals slugger Bryce Harper after the latter was ejected for the third time this season Friday night for blowing up at umpire Jerry Meals.

Washington could have used Harper in a one-run, extra-inning defeat.

"I want him to stay in every game," Williams told MASNSports.com. "We've talked about it. We'll talk about it again."

Harper defended himself. "I was sticking up for my team and myself at the same time," he said. "(Meals) was bad all night."


Rays flip-flop Jake Odorizzi, Nathan Karns for next starts

(12:03 pm ET) The Rays have made changes to their rotation, flip-flopping Jake Odorizzi and Nathan Karns, per the Tampa Bay Times.

Odorizzi will now start Sunday in Boston with Karns going Monday against the host White Sox.


Red Sox send RP Jonathan Aro back down to Triple-A

(11:40 am ET) The Red Sox have demoted reliever Jonathan Aro to Triple-A Pawtucket, the Providence Journal has reported.

Aro had just been recalled Thursday and did not get a chance to pitch in his latest stint with Boston. He did get into three games in late June and early July, but allowed six runs on 12 hits in 4 2/3 innings.
