Royals SP Edinson Volquez allows one run in Tuesday's win

(12:50 am ET) Despite producing a solid outing during Tuesday's start against the Rays, Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez received a no-decision during the 7-1 win.

Volquez allowed one run on five hits over five innings of work. He also struck out five and walked three. His biggest mistake was giving up a solo home run to John Jaso in the third inning.

Volquez has not pitched more than five innings in each of his last two starts. After going on a four-game winning streak, Volquez is now winless in his last two starts.


Albert Pujols ties Angels record for first-half homers

(12:50 am ET) Albert Pujols homered for the second straight day and hit his 26th home run of the season in Tuesday's win over Colorado. 

Pujols tied an Angels' team record for most home runs prior to the All Star Break, matching Garrett Anderson's 26 in 2000. 

Pujols went 1 for 5 with three RBI. He's hit in four straight games and has seven RBI in the last three games. 


Rockies Drew Stubbs homers in loss

(12:47 am ET) Rockies left fielder Drew Stubbs went 1 for 3 with a walk in Tuesday's loss to the Angels. 

Stubbs homered in the third inning, getting his first hit since his return to the Angels. 

Stubbs' last hit was May 18. His last RBI was May 13, and his last home run was May 6. 


Rays SP Matt Andriese receives no-decision in Tuesday's start

(12:45 am ET) Rays pitcher Matt Andriese failed to last more than five innings during Tuesday's 7-1 loss to the Royals.

Andriese allowed one run on four hits over 4 2/3 innings. He also struck out five and walked three. He received a no-decision for his effort.

Andriese was called up to be the 26th man for Tuesday's doubleheader. He now has a 3.11 ERA on the season.


Rockies' Troy Tulowitzki hits in 19th straight

(12:44 am ET) Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki went 1 for 4 with an RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Angels. 

Tulowitzki hit in his 19th straight game. He's hitting .365 over the streak. He's also reached base in 34 straight games. 

Tulowitzki drove in his 45th run of the year. 


Dodgers' Carl Crawford hopes to be activated after All-Star break

(12:41 am ET) Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford continues to make progress from his oblique injury, reports MLB.com.

Crawford will continue to play in rehab games through the All-Star break and then be reevaluated.

"I think [trainer] Stan [Conte] has a plan mapped out for him to be playing through the break so they have the same time off that we do," manager Don Mattingly said. "Then we can see where he's at."


Rockies' Chad Bettis gives up 10 runs in loss

(12:40 am ET) Rockies starter Chad Bettis gave up 10 runs in 2 1/3 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Angels. 

Bettis gave up four home runs in the game, matching the total he allowed at Coors Field from April 23, 2014 through July 6, 2015.

Bettis gave up eight hits and saw his ERA increase from 3.67 to 4.95 in the game. 


Angels' Andrew Heaney moves to 2-0 with win

(12:36 am ET) Angels starter Andrew Heaney earned a win over Colorado on Tuesday, moving to 2-0 on the season in his third start.

Heaney went 7 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on eight hits. He didn't walk a batter and struck out five.

The outing was Heaney's longest of the year, and his runs and hits allowed were both season highs.


Cubs' Kris Bryant has eight-game hitting streak snapped

(12:30 am ET) Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant went 0 for 3 with a walk in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader. 

Bryant's hitless game snapped an eight-game hitting streak. He was 9 for 29 (.310) over the streak. 


Padres RF Matt Kemp collects two RBI in Tuesday's loss

(12:29 am ET) Padres outfielder Matt Kemp went 2 for 4 at the plate during Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Pirates. Kemp drove in all of the Pirates' runs when he doubled off Frank Garces in the third inning.

Prior to his two-hit game Tuesday, Kemp was hitting .184 with two home runs and seven RBI in his last 14 games.
